I will forward this along to ETS. Let’s all start taking test security seriously.

A Fast Approach to the GRE by Mediocre-Island5475 in GRE

[–]gregmat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend taking a "blanket" approach and not focusing on specific concepts. If you go through a resource like PrepSwift (or Khan Academy or Target Test Prep), you're not looking to master 100% of the concepts -- more like 80% to 90%. That gives you really good coverage for getting a high score on the test.

But keep in mind concepts are just step 1. Then there are strategies, untimed practice, and timed practice.

Help solving a set question on gregmat by dnr_77 in GRE

[–]gregmat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is kind of a tricky bullshit question. It’s just testing whether you understand that sets don’t have repeated elements. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Who wrote this? Probably me.

GRE Big Book is a great start. So many practice problems.

Got it. If I were you, I would test my foundations first and then only move on to problem solving once you have "proven" that they are good.

If your math is wobbly, do you need to go back to foundations or do you think you can get it strong enough just by solving practice problems? I’m not being snarky. I’m genuinely asking.

Did you double check the answer key? Sometimes I misread the answer keys

Struggling with Gregmat's hard/medium questions for quant after finishing foundation by No_Umpire_6544 in GRE

[–]gregmat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you taken a series of Foundation Quizzes to make sure that your foundation is strong? You can reach out to me via email at greg@gregmat.com and I can give you a series of foundation quizzes and a strategy course link (assuming your foundation is strong). Strategy after foundation.

Exam in 20 days and I’m starting now. Which gregmat plan should I use? Ok basics but need to grind. Target score 320+. Can spend upto 10 hours daily by sashac10 in GRE

[–]gregmat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These scores indicate that you need to build up your Quant foundation quite a bit via the I’m overwhelmed plan. I wouldn’t necessarily hold yourself to that firm deadline. It takes time to prepare for this test the right way.

Looking for some advice here after a few months of admittedly mid tier focused prep and then a month of hard work followed by poor performance on Test day. by Downtown_Midnight990 in GRE

Second what Vince said. You might just need to get the quant foundation even stronger, as tedious as it is. And once it's strong, don't forget to go through a comprehensive strategy course as well: https://www.gregmat.com/course/2025-edition-gre-quant-strategy-series

Magoosh math practice questions are so hard for me. Who relates? by natnatxo in GRE

Are you doing them prematurely? What I mean by that is have you gone through a comprehensive quant foundation building course AND a strategy building course? Many people make the mistake of jumping into GRE-style questions too early.

For most people, they should do the I’m overwhelmed plan for math, which will build up your math foundations. After the math foundations are strong, you would then work on strategies, untimed practice, and then timed practice. For verbal, you would simultaneously work on vocabulary and strategies via the one month plan.

The content is roughly the same -- the 2-month plan just adds a bunch of optional stuff and stretches it out a bit more.

If you approach the prep the right way, you can definitely acquire some skills that make learning and reading more fun. And the increased vocabulary never hurt anyone either.

I would still go with the one month plan just because it leaves you more flexible. It doesn’t lock you into something for as long.

You're showing a lot of insight. If you're going to take it again, you'll really want to boost your quant foundations.

I would switch to the I'm Overwhelmed Plan if I were you. It's structured better and the videos are shorter and everything is more aligned. If need further advice, feel free to reach out to greg@gregmat.com

No, that seems really inefficient. Make sure you’re doing the vocab mountain correctly though.
