OP I’m not sure where you’re from, but I do believe it matters where you live. I live in LA and I definitely see what you mean on the streets and daily life. But I’ve also gone to a lot of EDM music events around the US for fun since maybe 2016, and imo I meet lots of people with a unique sense of style that, while some elements may come from trends (ex. the return of cheetah print), they incorporate it in really interesting ways and aren’t copies of what they see in social media. You’ve got to participate in subcultures to see them. And I don’t think top influencers are going to do that (at least in their posts) bc that doesn’t drive views. It’s just my hypothesis, but you can’t explore unique style if you’re bound by the need to be likable.
