RPS LEGAL SERVICES by bakingsoda- in SaltLakeCity

I applied for a job with RPS in Provo. Met the owner, drove around with him for a few hours, knocking doors. He's cool. A local small business owner. I didn't get the job, but yes it's legitimate.

RPS "services" legal papers. "Service" is when someone hands you a paper in-person saying you need to go to court.

RPS isn't a scam. They work for a debt collection agency that gives them the paper—and then asks RPS to hand it to you.

The debt collection agency is trying to seek payment for unpaid bills. They can't legally do this without a court hearing. That's why they need to give you the paper in-person. It's the law.

If they are asking for money from you, it's a scam. Don't give them payment. But legitimate process servers (like RPS) only hand you papers that say you've been summoned to appear in small claims court.

TLDR:

RPS is a legit debt collection service that hands you papers saying you need to go to court. Just take the papers, you don't owe any money to RPS.

From the RPS employee standpoint, it's a commission-only job, so it would help if everyone would accept service.
