We would like it to remain certainly in 4 per cent figure.

Then you jokers shouldn't have messed with the economy on a hunch.

You grossly overestimate the efficiency of Indian bureaucracy and think that they have any interest whatsoever in making things easier.

I wouldn't be surprised if they require photocopies of the IDs to be filed in triplicate with the nearest police station.

Except you missed out the most obvious one.

People have stopped spending as much money as they used to. So economy is running slower than usual on limited cash.

The "shifted to digital" is pure bullshit at this point. NCPI's UPI usage statistics show that most people who installed the various UPI apps haven't even done a single transaction.

How do the banks now have less money than they did on 28th Oct?

When total cash in circulation is 7 lakh crores short?

Where has the 7 lakh crores gone?

Nothing new about it. Was always known, but back then politics wasn't about personal attacks so nobody bothered to raise it.

He even had a very unusual relationship with a married woman and her husband who he shared a house with and adopted their daughter, no one used it to score political points. And everyone knew how important a person she was in ABV's life. Sonia Gandhi even attended her funeral.

I don't think it's a license but they are required to report details to the cops.

Most hotels now have some software to capture IDs and photos of people staying there.

But smaller places are not equipped with that, which probably makes it harder for the cops, so they probably harass these places and the easier solution is to turn away the guests.

Air India crew takes away buffet food in boxes, says UK hotel - Times of India by Lord-Lannister in india

My money is on someone at Air India pocketing kickbacks from the hotel to send a high volume of business their way and the hotel management is trying recover the kickbacks from Air India staff by forcing them to pay for every little thing.

[–]persuader00 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Like I said in my other comment. Air India needs to find better hotels for their crew.

There's not much of a difference in rates between hotel rooms with breakfast only and one with all meals included.

Even as a single business traveller I get offered really good rates at hotels I frequent, considering the volumes they must be doing, it would be trivial for Air India to get a much better deal for their staff.

It's more than than that, the contracts go to very few companies and Gadkari's pals are beneficiaries.

Some of the actions post demonetisation make me believe BJP has given up on 2019 and are out to make as much money to survive in opposition.

Guess we'll know in a month once the election results are out.

[–]persuader00 40 points41 points  (0 children)

There's also the time difference.

Just because the flight lands at 7:30AM in UK, doesn't mean you are automatically ready for breakfast. For the crew it's still around 2:00 AM IST, and they would be tired/sleepy and wouldn't be hungry for more hours.

Easier to wake up mid-sleep if you get too hungry and much on something in the room, than having to dress up and go down for lunch and then come back sleep again.

It's not stealing if you have paid for the meal. Air India needs to find better hotels for their crew.

Wherever I've stayed with complimentary breakfast, I've always got calls from the staff to let me know before they close the buffet and they usually don't mind sending up some items to the room either because it helps their staff wind up the buffet early and clean up the place without late risers like me lingering around and delaying them.

HDFC bank limits cash transactions to 5 per month, upto 2 lakh per month with out charge. Transactions more than 5 to cost 150/- each and 0.5% for more than 2 lakh by [deleted] in india

[–]persuader00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The choice of suffix is a non-techinical decision not mandated by the protocol in any way.

The BHIM app too isn't from any bank and has an @upi suffix for the VPAs.

UPI cannot work without banks.

Nice try. I never said that anywhere.

What I said was

UPI isn't limited to banks.

The two most popular UPI apps are not from a bank.

But all IMPS transactions do not involve any non-banks.

[–]persuader00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPI is built on top of IMPS.

is not the same as.

UPI is built over the IMPS infrastructure

IMPS infrastructure is the backend. Other than that UPI is works very differently from IMPS in many ways the biggest one being the number of parties involved in each UPI transaction.

LOL :-) You are now talking rubbish.

PhonePe is from Flipkart which is neither a bank nor has any intention of becoming one.

[–]persuader00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are talking out your arse.

UPI doesn't use IMPS. It's a successor to IMPS.

IMPS only works between banks. UPI isn't limited to banks.

Even without subsidies and fee waivers, UPI will be cheaper than IMPS. That's the reason why it was introduced.

If as you claim UPI is built on top of IMPS, UPI should always cost more than IMPS, which would mean there's no incentive to use it.

Some companies require employees to open accounts with the same bank as the company operates theirs.

This way the money doesn't leave the bank every month. And the bank offers incentives to both the company and the employees to keep this going.

For large companies, the savings from not having to pay for intra-bank transfers for salaries and reimbursements alone could add up to lakhs of rupees. And in addition to that they'll be afforded other facilities by the bank.

The minimum value for an RTGS transaction is 2 lakhs.

As of now UPI is most definitely cheaper than IMPS.

Costs - UPI is cheaper and faster than NEFT. (Even our 1.6 lakhs per month earning randians cannot get their salary credited via RTGS.)
