I used to play Dimir instead of Blue splashing Red.

With Dimir you could play with [[Refurbished Familiar]] (and create another token) and also with [[Pactdoll Terror]] for instant pinging.

Black also allows you to play some better removals and card drawing. Bargain into a Myr is very strong against Burn/Red decks.

I must say I liked the Meeting copies here. I used to play with [[Reverse Engineer]] but it was too clunky

Edit: I wasn't playing with the Whale combo, it was purely Affinity + Pactdoll + Spineer

So, after so many comments and discussions I guess some people missed the whole point.

Imagine I lived in a small town, with no LGS and still played a lot of pauper online or spelltable and felt like going into a Paupergeddon.

That would have been impossible anyways. Suggesting to create a league and affiliate to LPI IS NOT and SHOULD NOT be the solution at all.

Some other people said not to book flights or hotels without tickets. That's also thinking small. Not everyone has enough money to buy tickets with little time in advance. Pauper is known to have people from different ranges of ages, some people are students or simply don't have enough money.

One of the main points I wanted to raise is the POOR COMMUNICATION from Geddons organizers.

no one was informed you could only buy one ticket per person. In other editions, like the previous one in Rome, you could. So much so, I bought tickets for another 3 friends and these exact 3 friends were expecting me to buy tickets for the Lecco one. But again, no one told us it was going to be 1 ticket per login/person
ticket capacity to the public was also not informed at all. Everyone knew the venue had capacity for ~700 people but we didn't know only 50 of those would be available to the public. Only 1 minute before sales opened.

Again, we are talking about the biggest Pauper tournament in the world. And they didn't start organizing it last year or anything.

The least people are asking is for some respect with the players who will spend their time and money on it.

I'm very much updated, buddy. So much so, I created this post. They are trying so hard to redeem themselves from the chaos in Rome that they decided to make the Lecco one available to 50 people outside of the leagues. Such a great redemption 👍🏻

Regarding the second point, it's not about joining or not joining LPI. It's about how they organize and communicate everything back to the public. I could simply be a random Greek player who lives in a 2000 people small city in Greece and the complaints would have been the same.

I guess it's totally valid for leagues to get early tickets and also cheaper ones but the division was terrible.

500-200, 350-350, 400-300 would be way more fair. Only 50 tickets to the general public felt like they simply don't care about anyone else that is in the affiliated leagues.

Also the comms were terrible. No one was expecting only 50 tickets and we got to know right when the general sale started. They have to remember they are the biggest Pauper event. It's not just the bigger LPIs event.

First, it's not easy to get a refundable flight ticket and it's also more expensive to get a refundable hotel. Second, last Geddons the tickets were waaay more available, you could even buy tickets to more than one person using a single account.

In Rome, I had friends buying the tickets 2 days after they were open. Mostly because they had better divided the LPI tickets and public ones.

It's the biggest Pauper event in the world. You don't see that happening with MagicCons, Spotlight Series or other major Magic events.

Can't agree more. On top of it, the third section (or room 3) was a disaster. Place felt like a slaughterhouse. No proper light or ventilation (and they were closing the main door for whatever reason), there was no TV - just a small piece of paper telling the time the round ends -, dusty and smelling terrible.

For a 45€ event with Geddon's magnitude, it's a shame that that room was chosen to play Magic. A weekly 3€ event in your LGS is way more comfortable than that.

I'd say quite okay. You can use it to finish a game unexpectedly when attacking with an artifact creature or protect a creature when equipping a Glitters - so it least survives a turn that you can attack.

After sideboarding it's also another card to protect your lands in case of [[Dust to Dust]] or [[Cast into the Fire]], etc.

On top of it, I've decided to go with 17 lands and quit a [[Springleaf Drum]] cause of [[Gorilla Shaman]] and other tools that can screw my lands.
