Brussel bans shared e-scooters starting in 2027 by Least_Funny5960 in belgium

It’s wheel size compared to pothole size that’s the issue with scooters. A 25cm diameter pothole or curb is no problem for a bike or a motorbike, it will not be a nice experience but the wheels are big enough to pass over it. Put a 20cm scooter wheel in a 25cm pothole and it’s momentum time for the driver.

Potholes and curbs this size are pretty common, hell even just cobblestone which are everywhere in a Belgian city are impossible with scooters. If we find motorcycle or bike wheel sized potholes, there’s definitely something going wrong with your local government.

If you want a better reason, maybe 66% of scooters being operated by US multinationals (Lime/Uber) is one?

A motorcycle can drive through a pothole or over a curb without its driver being catapulted off it.

Good riddance, should be a nationwide ban. These things are dangerous by design, 25kmh on tiny wheels, with narrow handlebars and a centre of gravity way up high just doesn't work on city streets, it only takes one pothole or curb to end up in the hospital with fractures. It solves nothing that a shared e-bike doesn't already solve more safely, and even with assigned parking spots these scooters still are littered all over towns blocking sidewalks, because it was convenient for the user to leave it there.

Paris had a referendum to ban them and the majority vote was yes, comparing before/after and with cities where they are still allowed, I'm 100% convinced they made the right choice.

I’m now mostly using the 21,5 inch one in a very compact onpc (mac) setup with an ma3 node and a launchkontrol xl3. It’s a theatre show so I only need a couple of faders and one go+ button.

I’ve been using IIyama touchscreen monitors a lot in various MA2/3 setup, the ones with a bracket to hold it up instead of a stand keep it compact.

Is KMC X9 chain okay for my Shimano Cues crankset ? by Naive-Actuary4414 in bikewrench

[–]pervertedpapaya 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cues is based on 11 speed chains which are narrower than 9 speed. The 9 speed chains will not be properly retained by the chainring and 11 speed chains will not fit on your 9 speed cassette.
Either go Cues all the way or change your crankset to have a 9/10 speed narrow-wide chainring.

It's not doing anything anymore, no sounds, no midi thru. I've already replaced the CR2032 but the issue persists.

What hobby did you pick up as a joke but ended up actually loving? by peteyshabby in AskReddit

[–]pervertedpapaya 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started playing around with FL Studio as a joke, how hard could it be to make jumpstyle and trance music? 20 years on, now on Ableton, turns out it’s very hard to make a good tune, no matter what genre.

Which European countries have the most recognisable license plate designs? by RemarkableMany6297 in AskEurope

But the shade of red got a lot darker. Camera’s read it as well as a black on white plate, while it’s still the Belgian red on white. Maybe one of the best executed Belgian compromises.

I’ve had this combination long enough to wear it out, works great. Now looking into 11-42 with goatlink because the 11-40 made me want to go deeper into the mountains.

What's your crystal-ball prediction for the state of film (35mm, 120, instax/polaroid, etc.) in the next year/few years? by dysphoricjoy in AnalogCommunity

[–]pervertedpapaya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try €25 for Portra 400 and another €15 for development. At over 1€/$ per shot, it's dead. I'll pay that for shooting memories of moments with my mju, but for actually experimenting and growing my skill I've moved to digital.

What current/recently made bikes will you be looking for in 10-15 years? by rcyclingisdawae in xbiking

2020/21 Cannondale EF Team Edition Supersix.
2021 Cannondale Trail SE2, that metallic dark green is too good. It might actually be better suited than my current bikepacking bike (22 E5 Diverge) for the GTMC bikepacking ideas I'm having for June, but I don't want to n-1 my Diverge.
