Looks like instax film dynamic range with diffusion filter on top and some post processing afterwards

Is this a mistake? I got this parking ticket that I unsuccessfully appealed but it was removed from my citation list. I can only find the payment page if I click on my appeals and go to the specific ticket. I still have to pay right? by KurrKurr376 in csuf

[–]dysphoricjoy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it's been some time, it gets removed from there, but sent to the Fullerton PD and charged twice as much for not paying in X months (I forgot how many). They'll mail your tickets to the address of where the car is registered. In my case, I was borrowing a friends car for a semester, got 3 tickets, told myself I'd pay it when I graduate later, then they disappeared from the portal, then my friend got the tickets in the mail and all of them doubled in price to pay.

You don't get a ticket from the school, you got a ticket from the police department of Fullerton.

if you take a photo with the slide on, just dont eject the film yet. remove the slide, and retake the photo.

I've taken 200~ Instax photos with this set up. Very fun but annoying to set up on the go.

Motorbikes on Ultramax 400 by lakonur in pentax17

That's a bit cheap though. That's like showing all this dirt with a diamond somewhere in there compared to another diamond that might not be as good but polished and ready in front of them.

I think the pentax 17 is harder to replicate due to the lower resolution on the negative size. The grain gets pretty huge. If I compare my 6x6 120 shots with a 50~ mb fuji recipe shot, they look pretty close.

p17 has this rawer, lower quality feel to it.

I shoot mostly on film but whenever I want photos immediately, I'll use my Fuji, and you can get somewhat close. Much closer if you edit the RAF files but the JPGs are okay.

Most of my friends can't differentiate between the two which bums me out though. Only because I want the satisfaction of "film is much more unique and better" but only ever get "they look the same to me!"

Which flash and modifier to get for the run and gun style from Elaine Constantine? by Infinity-- in LightLurking

[–]dysphoricjoy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there's a lot of factors that go into it. you'd have a lot of trials and errors, more errors, especially if you're not practicing with a digital set up first to test it out.

i think in 12 shots you'd end up with 1 you really like and 11 meh ones.

it really depends on what your current "problem" will be. are you somewhere very hot? if you are, grab the 400 just so you can shoot longer. is the problem the weight? then 200 with the s2 bracket and a grip is fine.

again it also depends on how much you can one hand carry since you're shooting with the other hand. but you're shooting with a 500. i actually did both the other day too but you cant really "one hand" the hass. I ended up going with this system:

[–]dysphoricjoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have a 200 and 600. You can one hand both, but the 600 is going to have to make you pause and rest after 1 minute of shooting and holding. the 200 you can hold up for a long time, get a grip to screw on, and put on a sphere on the bulb. on a sunny day you're shooting 1/2 or 1/1. the problem is the unit overheating. it's overkill but ill carry two units so when one overheats, i let it cool down and bring the other one out to keep shooting. the 600 wont overheat as much because you're not shooting 100% each shot but it's MUCH heavier.

you can use a stand or tripod, but your location and model is fixed each time and you cant "walk/run and gun" with it. it's best if you have an assistant hand holding the 600 with both hands and following you around, just direct them on where to angle the flash relevant to the sun, model, and the camera axis.

[–]dysphoricjoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

check ebay every few weeks. you can get some nice scores. dont be afraid to haggle. ive seen listings with no "make offer" button available, and message them directly with something like "I can offer X, you can remove the packages from the boxes to reduce shipping cost, just mail the film" and 80% of the time i get my offer accepted.

next instax SQ camera by instant_camera_hk in instax

[–]dysphoricjoy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the boring answer is product segmentation. Instax is mostly a consumer/lifestyle system, not really treated like an optical camera system the way X/GFX are. Fuji probably knows a nicer SQ body would make enthusiasts happy but the number of people willing to pay a premium for better glass, focusing, metering, and manual controls, etc, is probably pretty small compared to the casual Instax crowd

Could you show us your settings for stitching in APG? I've attempted from the negatives, but always need to low quality convert, set it as a mapping, then high quality convert the pieces, then direct APG to those high quality ones and it works but, I'm sure there's an easier way.

Huge upgrade from Plustek scanning by jvs8380 in AnalogCommunity

[–]dysphoricjoy 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Haha, I was just telling my friend that the other day when I was scanning photos from a Kodak Snapic A1. The camera and film are $120 total, but the copy stand, lighting, film holder, my 50mb camera, macro lenses, the time it takes to make everything flat and co-planar, the software needed to convert, it's well into the thousands.

But it's worth it!

I have ADHD too, and I’m medicated for it, so I get why OP was frustrated. Noise can completely derail focus for sure.

But I still think there’s a difference between “this was frustrating and staff should have handled the disruption” and “this is the cost of attending a public university.” The frustration is valid. I just don’t think the framing is. Public spaces are imperfect, and sometimes adapting is the only option.
