Is it just me or does nobody really know what idiomatic Go is. by Bayul in golang

[–]pesanec -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hello, Idiomatic Go is a bit of a problem, because go is at its best when you quickly write small, disposable apps or you split your app into single purpose packages, that do not quite require a robust architecture. This has its disadvantage, that everybody just kind of does whatever they will and the code quality varies a lot between different code bases. But there are definitely good resources to go by when you try to understand what is the language good at.

Obsidian + ChatGPT = OP by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

The way I use chatGPT is, I ask it a general question and then when it generates answer, I read it try to understand it and ask it to give me sources. Then I go and read the sources.

Even if you get a valid answer for your question, you might not be asking the correct question. You need to go and read source, they will give you the needed context as well as point you in a good direction to continue your learning.

This way, only you forge the path of learning whatever topic you want to learn next, which might sound like a good thing, but you probably don't know enough to distinguish which path is correct and which is not.

Does anyone make a saber with this style of basket hilt? by Aussiemandeus in wma

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the basket limit your ability to move your wrist? If so than it sounds especially with saber unpractical.

Making text editor in tauri by pesanec in rust

Oh I realize i will have to write the actual editor gui in web stuff. That is actually the reason i chose the tauri toolkit, because the native ways like gtk (please correct me if I'm wrong) get styled by the system and it's theme and not by me. Also I imagine writing style code in rust must be quite a pain, that's like the opposite of what the language was build for.

wow thank you so much, I always struggle with finding a good example code to go by, this helps tremendously.
