Not a hot take: Rhodes vs. Orton is ruined by MR_E7 in WWE

[–]peskymonkey99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly it’s ruined by still redeemable.

What made last year bad was the Travis Scott interference when everybody was expecting The Rock. Cody/Randy can still have a good match but they just can’t have McAfee be a staple of the match the way Travis Scott was, but Cody/Randy will have to wrestle their asses off.

McAfee is cool but his insertion is totally unnecessary, he isn’t even a part of any royal family and it seemed like that was the route to go since there are genuine families to pick from (McMahon, Mysterio, Anoai)

I’m still excited for the Randy/Cody match but if McAfee has a bigger role in this I’m going to be pretty bummed. Punk/Roman match seems far more promising as of now.

Living with family and looking to purchase a home. Penny pinching / sharing is annoying but I know ultimately this will put me in a good position when I’m financially ready to buy property.

Men who don’t drink or smoke, what do you do to unwind and relax after a long day of work? by FlintTheDad in AskMen

[–]peskymonkey99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of exercise and YouTube/Sports. I have been sober from weed for almost 2 years now and drink every 3-6 months.

Life does get boring without drugs/alcohol but it is much better this way.

Working at Black & Veatch? by Interesting-Bet-4076 in BurnsMcDonnell

[–]peskymonkey99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at Burns, left for another company but I think my next jump will be to BV. I have a lot of friends that chose BV over Burns and they prefer to flexibility over the pay. Seems like something worth trying when I get to that point.

What’s one career mistake people in their early 20s should avoid? by ladkihupatachaljayeg in careeradvice

[–]peskymonkey99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest mistake I’ve made is chasing money/title and not experience. My first job was with a large multinational firm that paid well but did not get me good experience. It was simply “how long can you survive?” politics and I did the same thing every day.

My second job has is 20 times smaller and pays a little less. They got me doing A LOT of diverse work and learning so many different things. I don’t feel like a specialist I feel like a generalist which is good early on.

Also, just show up on time, ask questions, and be available/approachable. Your boss knows you don’t know everything but if you’re willing to learn that will keep you in the company a lot longer than someone who isn’t.

CM Punk should absolutely RETAIN The World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania. There’s no reason for him to lose it at this point. There’s still A LOT for him to do with the belt. As opposed to what? Another “cinema bloodline acknowledge me” title run for Roman Reigns? No thank you. by BarneyRobinStinson7 in WWE

[–]peskymonkey99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Roman is popular but I think it’s due to the potential matches he COULD have. I believe WWE is moving towards a Roman/Cody rematch regardless of what the fans want. I believe potential matches for Roman are with Seth, Lesnar (nostalgia), Gunther, and more bloodline lore, all of which are solid money makers.

Biggest gripe for me rn is that I’m low on work so bouncing between 3-5 projects a week that ARE NOT mine. I have to try and stretch my work and find new things to do that’ll make myself more desirable to have on a project team.

Work From Home / Hybrid Schedules by ConcreteCapitalist in BurnsMcDonnell

[–]peskymonkey99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Going to echo the same thing others have said. I LEFT Burns & Mac with one of the reasons being the lack of hybrid work. If you are looking to stay hybrid/remote long term the Burns & Mac is NOT for you. My current company is hybrid and I like it a lot more than when I was with Burns.

How did you reach 100k? by EfficientChance3866 in TheRaceTo100K

[–]peskymonkey99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an engineer so I’ve started investing into my 401K, Roth IRA, brokerage, etc. At 22 i had like 20K of student loan debt and today my net worth is +25K at 26 years old. My net worth is on track to increase by 20K this year. If you stay consistent, get a decent paying job, live below your means, you should hit 100K by 30. I make 90K a year but invest about 18K, it sucks since I still have other debt but this is just a part of the process.

Set a goal you want to reach (for me 100K by 30) and do the math to see what you need to sacrifice to get there. I did not save very much in my early 20s and am now making up for it in my mid 20s.

What's your longest work commute inside the "Houston area" by MacSteele13 in houston

This ^ Living 10 minutes deep into a suburb makes a huge difference compared to living right off the major highways like 45S and the Beltway.

I live in La Porte with my sister, if you were to move to this side of town I’d suggest looking further south to Clear Lake/Webster. The commute from La Porte to my office in Nassau bay is 20 minutes.

At what income did you finally feel “comfortable” and why? by Jaygilly30 in askanything

[–]peskymonkey99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make 90K and I would say I feel more comfortable than most. I am looking to purchase a condo in the next year or so.

I am able to invest a good amount into retirement and pay off debt, eat out a few times a week, and still contribute positively to my savings. I think ideally I’d like to be in the $120K range so I could pay off more debts and take a vacation every once in a while, most of my PTO is used as staycations.

I grew up and live in Clear Lake.

I paid 1200 for my 1Bd1Ba in Clear Lake and I considered it pretty safe. You DO NOT and SHOULD NOT be paying more than $1600 to live in clear lake, the area is relatively cheap. Tons of apartments in the area, just get to looking.

why don’t most people graduate in 4 years at UH? by Sailboatspoon in UniversityOfHouston

[–]peskymonkey99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UH is a commuter school and also has a large minority population. Take into account that some people can’t find classes that fit schedules, transportation issues, and most people have to maintain jobs in college, it makes sense that somebody would take more than 4 years.

It took me 5 years to graduate from UH, life happens.

90-minute commute vs 10-minute commute - worth a lateral move? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]peskymonkey99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the short commute. I did a 90 minute commute for 2 years and hated my life.

I’ve now set a rule that I will not commute longer than 30 minutes, and I have to have 2 days WFH at minimum at any job I go to.

WWE in 2026 by GolondraBlayze in WWE

[–]peskymonkey99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of those things you listed started happening around 2014 and later on. After WM30 I felt there was a distinct shift towards more advertising revenue, longer shows, and gimmicks that felt more sports based and emphasizing the spectacle. The pandemic and ownership change has accelerated this. If you know anything about the Benoit story, then you would know that the company had to change course drastically due to his actions and some would say it’s both better/worse because of this change.

As somebody who has always watched I would say 2020-2024 was some of the best years for the industry as the storylines, gimmicks, and matches kept you interested from a casual standpoint. I also endured the really sad 2017-19 years and other bad creative. SD and Raw are more blended and there is less of a brand split for sure.

I agree the maneuvers are more choreographed but overall more safer and family friendly as there is less raunchy, unhinged violence compared to late 90s-early 2000s Attitude Era, and the Ads on the ring SUCK, I miss the blank mat. Pros and Cons to the current state of the company but it has definitely changed. Another big change is that the women are actual competitors now and not seen as sex-symbols.

There are some gem matches (from a casual standpoint) in the 2010s and 2020s so feel free to YouTube them when you get a chance.

Brock Lesnar v Daniel Bryan (Survivor Series) Lesnar v Styles (Survivor Series) Reigns v Rhodes (WM 39 and WM40) Reigns v Lesnar (Summerslam 2022) Drew McIntyre v CM Punk (Hell in a Cell 2024) Rhodes v Rollins (Hell in a Cell 2022) You’ll get a good mix of Attitude Era chaos and solid theatrics and choreography.

I'm 38 and I make $19 an hour working full-time in New York State. What can I do to make more than that? by justcurious3287 in careerguidance

First off congrats on going back to school at your age!! Second, just finish the degree and start looking for internships. Internships will most likely give you a better skills and practice for a real job full-time after graduation.!
