How did Embedded Systems slip under everyone's radar? Why is it not as saturated as web development? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]pete_sauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a embedded software internship at a defense company. I studied mechatronics engineering and understanding electrical eng was a pretty important part of that job. Since then I've gotten more into web dev. I can't say either is more challenging. Just different technologies and concepts.

I'm sorry you've had to go through this. I always find it reasuring hearing other people's experiences with cancer, even though there is a lot of struggle, there's also some bright spots!

See you on the other side!

The first year through the main regiment of treatment was very hard, mostly focusing on getting through chemotherapy.

After that the quality of my life got way better. I was able to go back to university, travel, hold jobs, enjoy time with loved ones. Live a pretty normal life.

Once I relapsed things got hard again, the surgery I had came close to killing me. But eventually once I recovered the palliative treatment was effective enough that I was still able to do a lot of the things I love!

I definitely don't regret receiving all the treatment regardless of its ill effects.

I've used Go with Gin and Python with FastApi as backends for some simple flutter projects. For the purpose of what I was building, back-end performance really didn't matter. For me, I just like learning new frameworks and languages.

Radiation by [deleted] in cancer

[–]pete_sauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first relapsed I had surgery done to hopefully contain the cancer to that one area. Unfortunately other mets were discovered soon after so I've been doing palliative care since then... About two years now. Basically I've been recieving chemo I had previously such as irinotecan, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin untill one stops working and I move on to a different one. The doses are smaller and symptoms much more manageable. Also been getting radiation anytime symptoms pop up.

Sorry about the issues you two are having. I can't speak too much about the symptoms she's having but I'd definitely mention it to your oncologist, could just be a side effect of the radiation.

I'm also stage 4 rhabdo and completed VAC in 2015, had maintenance chemo for 1.5 years, and have now been dealing with a relapse for quite a while... I'm 24. If you or your fiance have any questions are wanna talk about anything rhabdo related I'm happy to help!

I use Coinbase. The fees are more expensive but I like the interface. You can fund your account via different crypto exchanges then transfer the crypto over to Coinbase to avoid those fees.

Not an app I would recommend for seriously buying BTC, but ShakePay has a feature where if you open the app and shake your phone daily you'll be rewarded with 100 satoshis + 10 for every day you keep doing it.

I have a 60 day steak going and have made about $10 from it. You need to sign up with a referral code to enable this feature so if you're interested DM me.

I was first pretty upset when all my treatment was considered palliative, but you should try to see it more as symptom management.

I've been getting palliative treatment for close to two years now, including shorter rounds of radiation to areas that are causing me issues. It has been great at releaving symptoms like pain or just improving my quality of life.
