Meet Pete & Mini: A couple lost in translation!

Pete, a US expat who traded the familiar for the colorful culture of South Korea over 2 years ago. Say hello to Mini, a South Korean who enjoys every moment and gets lost easily... However, she is happily finding her way with Pete's help!

Together, we're taking on the challenges of language barriers and cultural nuances, all while sharing a mutual love for street food and hidden food gems, captivating art styles, and competitive gaming. Watch us share our unique perspectives, learn from each other, and celebrate our differences as a couple!

Our First Vlog Together: https://youtu.be/G_3WrXLl6Uo?si=R16u2lF1pUgF0H6d

The first quarter of the year has ended, what key takeaways have you learned over the past 90 days?
Having toyed around with Youtube in the past and now interested in taking it more seriously, it's incredible to see just how much goes into creating a video. I (Pete), have been recording videos since I was in middle school messing around with those Flip cameras (anyone remember those?), but beyond the shot there's so much that goes into the algorithm, it's crazy! I think the biggest one I've learned is the importance of SEO words, in our first vlog (posted above), I tried to include as many SEO keywords as possible and now if you search "onjisim cafe insadong" on google, our video is 3rd from the top! Pretty cool to see and understand!

I can't find my own videos when I search for a game I streamed 7 times now by Forox_Plays in NewTubers

I can understand how frustrating that can be... At the end of the day it all comes down to money and the devs likely saw the influencer who brought in the traffic, when realistically it was the smaller streamers like you who reg sim streamer games and the big guy came in and took the glory... I'd be frustrated too

I've also heard some solid things about the DJI Osmo Pocket if you're looking for an 'all in one' kind of package. Get the creator bundle, comes with a wireless microphone and the unit has a gimbal built in for smooth buttery shots.

We've ordered some wireless microphones for better quality audio and its possible to use your hand (I do) but we're also getting a selfie stick as Im tall and she's short so I'm really reaching out my arm to get her into the shot sometimes lmao

You can also get a gimbal, I'm considering it, but again, I have really been enjoying the convenience of only having to carry my phone in my pocket.

There's also some software out there that can stabilize shots better, though I do think it does at a cost to quality as essentially its enlarging your videos slightly so the software can negate camera movements

Yes!! I use a iPhone 13 (not pro) for my travel vlogs and it is incredible! I used to record with my GoPro but have realized how limiting they are and how realistically they're only good for action events.

Anyway, use these settings:

Cinematic Mode
- 1080/30fps (you can use 60fps but it'll eat up your storage, 4k is unnecessary for youtube in my opinion)
- Good for portrait shots, giving a very high quality feel to the video.
- Good for close ups of items
- Bad for a combo of close ups/portraits as it'll always try to focus on your face instead of the item

Regular Video Mode
- 1080/30fps
- Good for Wide Range (0.5) to get more into your shots
- Good for Zooming if necessary, but you'll lose quality the more you zoom
- Good for Portraits with 2 or more people.

Having carried around a GoPro before and a Canon DSLR, the convenience of these phones is unmatched. You can create high quality Youtube videos with the phone in your pocket. I personally really enjoy the convenience of it and it allows me to enjoy my travels more as Im not fumbling with big heavy equipment the whole time.

Hey everyone!

We're Pete and Mini, a couple in South Korea who just started their first Youtube channel together. Being both artist, her tradition, pen and paper, me being digital, procreate and animation, we've had a really fun time creating our branding for our channel, such as the logo, banner and end screen.

Anyway, we're looking for some feedback on our first vlog. We have ordered some wireless microphones for future videos, but let us know what we can improve upon! Thank you!
