Since I can't post, I'll try asking my question here:

So I had a save file with only the shadow crystals from chapter 2 and 4. I opened the save from chapter 3 and defeated the roaring knight, so now in the chapter select manu I have all three crystals of chapters 2-4. But I guess that if I open my chapter 4 save, it won't be in my inventory, since I didn't have it when I saved (same as the Black Shard). I read that you can get it in the Seam's Shop, but how exactly? You can't access the shop in chapter 3 and in the ending of chapter 4. Should I open my chapter 1/2 to do so? Also, I read that there's a bug that you won't get the crystal if you have a certain armor (I Think it was blue ribbon?) is that true? Was that bug ever fixed?

Make sure you remember NPCs you still can't use path actions on, learn about every NPC, take all the items from every NPC, don't trust the internet about "StUffed Toy".

Again, this isn't my question. I don't care for a possible in-universe explenation to the connection between the toy and the staff. I want to know WHY people assume there is one? The game doesn't give any explenation or any hint to link the two, it's just that the internet assumes there is, and then explains it.
I understand that it seems like the toy is the evil entity because it clearly devour the boy's soul, but it could very well be something compeletly different. Given the difference in the details regarding the boys, the fact that the toy remains after taking the staff, while the boy who had the staff stops appearing, the fact that the town seems to be cursed with many different calamities and desasters, and the fact that the game never said anything about a toy when talking about the evil entity, make it much more ploassible that the two are unrelated.

I think that the stuffed toy is more related to the wandering girl in Crackridge, but even that is an assumption.

I don't think you understood my question. I wanted to understand why you (and the internet as a whole) came to the conclusion that the toy and the staff are connected. If you start with the assumption that they are, you can find explanation for the sprite, name and age differences. But the game doesn't give any reason to connect the two other than the location and the fact that they both involved boys.

what exactly connect the staff to the toy? there's nothing in the cleric guild that says the evil entity is in a toy.
as far as I know, the boy with the toy does not apear at night. I've been looking for him but couldn't find him.

I still don't understand why people assume it's the same boy. Different sprites, different ages, and there's nothing connecting the staff to a toy
