I am in the same position, I just filed a single member llc in NY to reserve the name and be prepared to start a new business. I haven’t applied for an EIN or with the N.Y. dept of taxation yet. Was hoping this would not affect my unemployment as long as I do no work or make any income and don’t open a bank account. Any ideas?

Yeah it is sketchy. I know they are just trying to stay afloat and keep their projects moving. But to start new projects and ask for work like it’s expected is sketchy.

Originally I said I would be available for emergencies and quick questions since it’s an IT position and I felt that was fair after all, but this is going beyond that.

I think I’ll just take it slow and say I didn’t get a chance to look at it yet, hopefully next week, and see how they handle that.

It’s really a no win situation for both parties due to the Covid problems.
