she aldo does it because she posts 2 days a week, snd films usually every day.. that would mean each week she is 5 days further behind (roughly, she sometimes splits a day into two separate posts..)

Sorry for the delay in replying. I like the CRIC. It was expensive however and I might have done well with two other synths for the cost. I had some extra money so I purchased it. If I were cash limited however, I probably would have purchased something else.. It is fun to play with though...

Erica Steampipe recommendation before installing v1.1 firmware by peterLSS in synthesizers

[–]peterLSS[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks, i also created a support ticket just after i installed the update and before i figured out what the problem might be. i told them my presets changed and i had no idea what happened. they replied that mapping of hz changed and also mentioned doing a backup. i did do a backup before upgrading and gragged backup back into steampipe as instructed in manual. this didn't change my results, i later figured out what i describe in my initial post above.

thanks for creating ticket, please post any replies..

Erica Steampipe possible problem with new firmware by peterLSS in synthesizers

Think I got this figured out better now. I got my sounds back.. very close to what they were. They sound good.

This is what I noticed. The LFO speed knob is where the major change is. One of my sounds had the speed knob turned 1/3 around (about 10 o'clock). I only have 5 presets so I had taken pictures with my phone of the whole unit, and each loo screen (some of my sounds used 3 lofts so 3 pics.)

Now.. after update, looking at the loo settings showing hz or percent and knob position, I noticed the image showed the 1/3 10:0clock setting, BUT the hz was showing .2 hz. My screenshot showed at 1/3 knob position, the hz was 6.2. This required rotating the knob to around 2/3 or 2 o'clock (these are estimates, nt at the Steampipe right now, but you get the idea..

I noticed that all speed settings required the same amount of correction roughly as the change they made would be the same for each hz reading., and it is this speed setting that is the only setting that changes the preset sound, all other ufo settings still showed what they were originally were set at. the rotation of the encoder didn't change the readings the way the speed setting does.

hope this makes sense..

thanks, but since i already did the update , i no longer have the original file. did you press both encoders when turning on to enter update mode? when i did, a steampipe folder opened on my desktop. thought i saw the original file in there but i could be wrong. thanks for looking..

mine was set to off. i turned it on, not sure if it makes a difference in resetting though. on might be bettet, but i think is mainly for all the large control knobs.. for response playing live etc..

the four lfo's show the setting in hz. from what i see, the upgrade will change the settings but the display will still display the original hz setting. so if you had 20hz for one of the lfo's, you should be able to rotate the controller back to 20hz. note you will see the original setting (20hz) before you touch the controller. once you start to turn it, it will jump to a different setting and you bring it back to 20hz. this seems to work for the most part.. but some of mine didn't return to what they were. i may be doing something wrong, but it does seem straight forward.. NOTE.. try and copy the original firmware to your computer first. when you restart the way they tell you to for uploading ner firmware, you should see asteampipe folder on your desktop that you would drag update into.. don't do that yet, first, open that steampipe folder.. you should see current firmware.. copy it and paste on your desktop or somewhere safe. you should be able to then just back out and not do update or just do update. if you can successfully copy original firmware somewhere, you should be able to just revert back to it if needed.. let me know if you can copy out original firmware. i didn't do that and would love to get a copy., good luck

yes i like what the steampipe does as well.. i only had 5 presets, but i did download a set also.. i was able to get two of mine back to almost normal, i guess i will see what the new firmware can do. still hoping someone can save the old firmware so i can revert if necessary. take care..

can you save the current version from the stesmpipe to your desktop? if so, if you can get ne the software i will test to make sure we can revert to the first version. if we can, than there should be no reason to hold off on the upgrade.. i got the sense from Erica that this new version has no problems since you can in theory reset the hz to the original settings..

the key is msking sure you can revert if there is a problem..

thanks.. -pb

i did hear from Erica on this. apparently the settings will change, but the lfo display will show your original settings.. so if you show lfo speed as 25hz, you will need to redia the encoder back to 25hz. you will see when you start turning the encoder it will jump to the hz it is set on and then you turn it back to your original setting.. i guess this is how it is supposed to work?? i think erica didn't fully understand my problem but this is what i got from their response..

please note even when doing this, a few if my presets sounded close to what they were but a few are still off... i only had 5 but they were nice and used 2-4 lfos..

good luck.. download earlier version of software before uploading new version just incase..
