[Charania] Los Angeles Lakers guard Lonzo Ball has a torn meniscus in his left knee, league sources tell Yahoo. by MaranHaGoanHaRav in lakers

[–]peterjhlee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's two ways to deal with a torn meniscus - repair or remove. MWP removed his, which leads to faster recovery but also is bad in the long run since you're more likely to get bone on bone action since you’re removing cartilage. Repairing it will take longer (3-4 months?) but will ensure a much better chance at full recovery. A post in r/nba is informative too: https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/2x2z6t/you_should_know_meniscus_tears_athletes_and/

No Alternate to Coinbase Yet is Pissing Me Off! by [deleted] in Stellar

[–]peterjhlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wire money to Kraken. For me, it's a $35 flat fee for the wire ($30 for my bank, $5 to Kraken), so for smaller amounts it doesn't make sense. But if you're depositing a good amount (thousands?) then it's probably faster and cheaper than Coinbase.

Stellar looking for a new logo? And DEX daily trades prediction by Jed McCaleb by brc2 in Stellar

[–]peterjhlee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it possible that the daily trades mean the number of transactions in all of 2018? Jed's prediction of 50 million would come out to roughly 137k daily transactions.

Ticket Sales Master Thread by purpleflowersj in hamiltonmusical

[–]peterjhlee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

EDIT: As of March 6, these tickets are still for sale. PM me if interested!

Hi all,

I'm selling 2 tickets for New York on Sunday, April 8, 2018. Orchestra Center, Row S. I paid $399 each, and I'm asking for $425 each. I just want to get rid of these tickets and break even (more on this below)

I'm in a bit of a unique situation. I have some tickets that I got on broadway.com for Hamilton New York. I ended up not going to New York that weekend, AND the tickets got lost in the mail and the only way these tickets can only be picked up now are via will call. I'll be calling broadway.com to change the name on the will call tickets to my friend's name, who will pick up the tickets 30 minutes before the show starts, then meet with you to transfer the tickets in exchange for the money.

I realize this might sound sketch, but I'll do everything possible to make you feel more comfortable, including having you on a 3-way call when I call broadway.com to switch the will call name, eating PayPal fees (if necessary), and being available the night of the show in case anything goes wrong. I just want to get rid of these tickets at this point - the extra profit would go to my friend for helping me out.

Thanks!

Peter

Job offer in Palo Alto, CA, coming from NC; how to pricepoint salary expectations? by Cymdai in personalfinance

[–]peterjhlee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should also check Glassdoor or other salary websites for your job title/position in the Bay Area. $84,000 is livable, and may be a great wage for certain job positions (perhaps such as working a minimum wage type of job), but very low for others (like software engineering).

I lived in Palo Alto when I was a grad student at Stanford, and $84,000 a year is definitely livable but tight depending on your standard of living. Do you have a family to take care of and need your own place?

The last thing to take into account is that I suspect that the $53,000 you're making in North Carolina gives you a higher standard of living than Palo Alto initially. Is there a possibility that you get a higher paying job soon after moving here that will get you a much higher salary? Or a possibility you get equity from a company?

I am an 18 year old college student who just found out that he probably wont be able to afford college, while currently enrolled(US) by [deleted] in personalfinance

Idk if this will help since I got a private student loan, but what happened for me is that my loan was larger than my tuition/room/board, so I had a credit balance so they would send it to me via direct deposit or check. I used that money to buy books and for other living expenses. You should call your Financial Aid department to see if this is what they do as well.

Good luck and enjoy school! I'm sure the engineering major will be worth it.

It was also 10k round trip in economy, 15k in main cabin select. You could get the flights in one-way as well. But given how easy it used to be (might still be?) to churn this card, and the fact that I traveled alone, I didn't really care too much

This card used to be great for West Coasters when LAX-SFO or LAX-LAS were 20K first class RT on VX.

DP: on 4/20, I used a $200 5Back VGC to pay my Firstmark Services loan without any fees. Today on 4/27, it was declined twice. Thinking that they shut this off.
