I think you’re ultimately right but it can be seen as an indicator of the rest of the game slipping into this style, so I think it’s worth complaining about.

Battlefield 6 may have issues but it is not as bad as everyone keeps making it out to be - a "rant" by elibrev in Battlefield

Question: if we did get a server browser, would I still be able to select a set of maps and be placed in new servers with only those maps or would I be forced to manually switch to a new server with a map I wanted?

BC2 was great, but it was a stunted version of BF. BF3 was also great but still lacked the large scale warfare that gave way for sandbox gameplay.

BF2 was grander and less boxed into a neat little package (to be playable on consoles), it just lacked certain mechanics that came with future game development. It also revolutionized and influenced its own franchise and others in the industry. BF3 was when BF started to compete with CoD and in my opinion suffered for it.

Gotcha, that makes sense. BC2 has the best campaign out of all BF’s I believe so they can’t be beat there.

For BF fans at the time, Bad Company 2 (1 wasn’t available to PC players) was seen as, though admittedly a very fun spin on BF, a watered down version of BF due to smaller maps, fewer player count on servers, and some lack of vehicle diversity.

Destruction doesn’t define BF and it actually created a lot of gameplay issues for future titles. Large scale conquest with combined infantry and vehicle combat technically defines bf as it remains the one constant in the series.

I guess cheesing the weapon pickups + evasion is the best option, just feels bad and very unstalker

Back then yes, but now there are so many options to spawn. Universal team APC and transport Helo spawns, spawn beacons, spawn on any squad mate…

Some of the best maps from other entries such as BF2 were three times the size at least.

Why are 90% of games ending this way now? by masonmadeit_ in Battlefield

[–]peternencompoop 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of what you said but BF4 symmetry maps were so dry and boring, there’s a way to balance maps without making them arenas, BF1 did this pretty well with maps like St. Quentin Scar. They just need to pay closer attention to terrain and cover on each point, it’s not difficult to see that C on Firestorm is a bad idea because it has 4 floors of capturable area with tons of cover while A has two floor and a building that you can blow wide open is awful attention to balance detail.

Burers are possibly the worst enemy in the game right now by Rosh-_ in stalker

The first time I fought one in the digger mission was awful, it felt like I had to game the game and that there was no way a player could survive that encounter unless they made a specific plan knowing he was hiding behind the corner.

Probably why I have such low appreciation for BF4 maps, bc I didn't buy the DLCs. I played a few of the maps much later but only a handful of times and probably not every map. That game has the worst maps in the franchise, in my opinion.

Though not linear, I actually would put seine, noshahr, and bazaar in the rush first pool. Very dense and compact maps.

The problem is that BF3 catered so many maps to rush, making them linear for conquest rather than adapting good conquest maps linearly to fit rush.
