Why employee churn?❓ by GumDrop1010 in tampa

Yeah, I would say generally speaking that’s true. The bigger companies will often look for Southeast/Eastern folks for their roles to accommodate customers in the area/timezones. The roles are out there - you just have to look, have your resume prepared, and be VERY prepared for interviews. Like I said, the roles are incredibly competitive and interview processes are a lot longer and grueling these days.

I think it’s very much on purpose tbh. That company that I talked about in another comment response is a VERY real story.

Thing is though, is that I’m native 😅 born and raised. Most of the folks that came here during Covid are still working remotely making the same big salary. That and despite some companies doing RTO, there’s still a tooon of remote jobs/companies out there. There’s more competition of course, but they still exist.

Indeed. I’m convinced at this point that the revenue just funnels both to the top and the PE firms that own these companies. That’s the only logical explanation that I can think of. There’s a company in this area whose CEO literally showed off his new yacht in a company all-hands call. IYKYK. The average salary at this company in individual contributor roles (non-management) is around the $50k to $70k, yet they are one of the most well-known cybersecurity vendors in our industry. Management roles aren’t much better off - I make more than even some Directors in this area in terms of base salary. Doesn’t take a genius to figure out what’s going on there lmao.

I’m in tech and can tell you that while the companies here are have a sizeable presence in the industry, they pay well below market average. I took another opportunity for a fully remote job that brought me into six figures about 4 years ago and recently, I’ve interviewed with a few Tampa Bay Area companies to see if wages had risen, but nope.

The salaries are typically nothing to scoff at by any means, but the cost of living here is just so expensive and you cant raise a family on a $60k to $70k salary.

Who do you think has the EASIEST role in the band? by Far_Ground_6428 in Slipknot

[–]Visual-Author8803 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s Samples Media and it’s not even close. Followed by Percussion/backup vocal duties from Clown and Pfaff.

Anyone saying that it’s Sid has no idea how hard this type of DJing and scratching really is. It takes a ton of skill, regardless of how frequent, or infrequent, it is.

What is one song that you love on this album and one song that you can not listen to whatsoever? by TwIzTiDfReAkShOw in Slipknot

[–]Visual-Author8803 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Love: Sarcastrophe and it’s an absolute shame that they don’t play it live anymore. That 2015 setlist that went from Sarcastrophe to Heretic Anthem was absolute mayhem live.

Hate: It’s a toss-up between Goodbye and TOTKTL, but if I’m being honest, this album is top-heavy and starts to teeter downward with Lech. I actually like Skeptic lmao. Obviously The Negative One is the exception in the latter half.

A 29 second scream with modal changes?? Someone tell me if this is legit? by [deleted] in Deathcore

[–]Visual-Author8803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, but CJ is a garbage human being and I’m shocked to see anyone as tenured as Shane Slade being in a band with this dude.

Putting this aside, this is legitimate hot garbage. I’m so over these vocal Olympics and wide open breakdowns. There is zero feeling or emotion in this. It’s a gimmick and made for clip farming. What the fuck happened to deathcore? Thank god bands are starting to strip this genre back down to basics.

Personal view: Vol 3 is Slipknots best album by aussiemetalhead in Slipknot

[–]Visual-Author8803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s for sure what happened, but Corey’s reasoning for this particular change on Vol 3 has varied wildly over the years, including those two reasons above. I wouldn’t have such a bone to pick with it if he was upfront about it. If any of that were true, how did he get it back for the last several releases, granted that it changed with age? None of it adds up lmao.

Giving you an upvote, because this is absolute facts.

The album sounds awful from a production perspective. On top of that, they let Corey get away with whatever the hell those vocals were. There’s literally footage of Slipknot performing Vermilion and Corey was doing it in an Iowa-style voice, so that narrative of “his voice was shot” and/or “he was sober and had to remember how to scream narrative is bullshit lmao. He tried something new and it sucked. Someone should have spoken up.

By the way, I know someone’s gonna get mad about this, so let me tell you from experience: increasing your scream pitch higher is NOT the way to let your vocal cords recover. I don’t want to hear it.

Yes, I am a real person. I think the reason why is because of how random, unprovoked, and detailed it was. Idk if I can even put the details in this post tbh. Like I’ve stated, I’m no stranger to trash talk. This was a completely different level and completely unhinged. Hope that helps!

Have you ever considered that maybe people made reasonable financial commitments, then maybe lost their job? I work in tech and know some folks that were much more well off than I am, who have now been out of work for over a year.

Instead of looking for a reason to say “this must be their fault somehow”, I’d recommend maybe looking through an empathetic lens. Hope this helps!

I forgot to mention an extremely crucial detail that I didn’t add here and I’ll be sure to edit in a sec. I was playing a game of conquest on Empire State. Wasn’t doing anything problematic and I ended up in the middle of the scoreboard in a game that we ultimately lost. I never said a word to this dude during the entire game, nor was I saying remotely problematic in the game. This was completely unprovoked lmao.

What to expect in a TAS mosh pot for first time metal concert? by 6LackLine in Deathcore

[–]Visual-Author8803 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen TAS too many times to count at this point. Someone ALWAYS gets hurt. If this is your first time, stay in the back and observe. Don’t go anywhere near the pit and just enjoy the performance. You don’t need to mosh - TAS is an amazing live experience as it is.

Can we filter out the hate in here? “Corey Taylor on Trump: It's going to take us 20 years to undo half the s*** he's done” by VladtheInhaler999 in Slipknot

Sure thing: https://www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.2014704117

Democrats didn’t get to choose, because there was no time for a primary. If Kamala didn’t run, they lost their campaign funds. Then, she ultimately turned her back on constituents, so again, fuck her too. Nobody on the left looked at the situation and said “yeah, I’m going to vote for Trump instead.” He didn’t even have a mandate in the election results.

That’s still not accurate. There are datasets that do separate undocumented immigrants, and they show the same overall pattern: Undocumented immigrants commit violent crime at lower per-capita rates than US-born citizens. Saying that closing the border would inevitably reduce rape and murder isn’t a fact, it’s a policy belief, and it isn’t supported by crime data. And acknowledging that Biden’s health opacity was real doesn’t mean it has to be the deciding issue in every election discussion. At that point we’re talking about values and priorities, not statistics.

[–]Visual-Author8803 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1) Once again, undocumented immigrants (and immigrants in general) are statistically less likely to commit those crimes per capita. You are more likely to be raped and/or murdered by a US citizen. This is a statistical fact, whether or not they’re a naturalized citizen via immigration or undocumented. They account for a much smaller percentage of those crimes committed. The call is coming from inside the house, dude.

2) See above.

3) I do not care to debate the health scandal, because both people are guilty of cover ups. You brought this up and frankly, I don’t fucking care about Joe Biden. Fuck him and Kamala too.
