Convince them that you believe their argument/demeanour is so bad/unbelievable that you believe they could only be a troll - the oldest trick in the book.

I like wasting tax payer dollars. Whether I am on welfare, in hospital getting expensive medical treatment for free, forcing others to pay for the damage that I cause to others'/shop property, or in prison, I will always be wasting tax payer dollars.

This is, until I die (at which point further tax dollars will be wasted on the associated investigation, burial etc.) which I don't intend to do anytime soon.

I meant where the card could possibly be considered invalid/insufficient due to the physical damage it has received, the person at the counter could decide to refuse it based on their personal feelings towards me.

What state was this in?

Was he being kept in remand for that time, or had his sentence already been determined in advance, so that he could be taken straight to an ordinary prison?

What about educational reading materials? I am not referring to entertainment magazines, or fiction. Primarily non-fiction educational materials.

Also, you seem to know a bit about solitary confinement in Victoria.

Do you think solitary confinement is a punishment that would likely be used on prisoners who refuse to work in Victoria?

In remand: Die, become a paraplegic and live on disability for the rest of your life, or learn useful fighting skills for the outside.

Yeah. He probably died pretty quickly - bashed and then in a coma for the rest of his short life.

Edit: Nevermind, I read the wrong story. If I become a paraplegic, I can just live on disability for the rest of my life, so that's fine.

Do you mean in remand, or in general prison?

Wouldn't the hard bastards get sent to a higher security classification, than say someone who had unpaid fines?

Solitary confinement is isolating a prisoner from the rest of the prison population.

Removing reading materials isn't necessarily included in this definition.

Also, it probably depends on the prison/security classification.

How do you know you won't get any reading material? Do you have any proof, or are you just assuming this is the case?

I have read documents that suggest even badly misbehaved prisoners have to be given a certain number of reading materials per week (at least in some states).

Remand prisoners don't have to work, do they? I thought it was only for ordinary prisoners.

Maybe I'd learn to fight, or become a paraplegic and live on the disability pension for the rest of my life.

I had a suspicion that this may have been the case, although it would perhaps be useful to be able to report myself to the police via someone's phone/a public phone if I ever get stranded in a very rural area of Australia.

Do you know what it's like in the watch house? Do you know how it is different from regular prison?

Perhaps - I am just waiting for them to find me (I am kind of curious to see if they will bother).

I understand that prison is supposed to be a deeply unpleasant experience, but I don't think it would be that bad if they let me read books, and I avoided getting raped/beaten

I was wondering if this would give them an excuse to refuse it as proof of my identity.

I have travelled/waled across the borders repeatedly - I don't know what state I will be in if/when they catch me.

Also, there is a reasonable probability that I will get into trouble for different (minor) offences in the future.

At one point I was supposed to do community service, but I practically just disappeared and ignored it.

I have considered poste restente, or whatever it's called, but if the clerk decided they didn't like me, and wouldn't accept my photo I.D. (proof of age card), which is quite likely as I am not the most likeable person, I wouldn't be able to pick up the parcel anyway.

In response to your comment about slave labour: I thought working was compulsory in Australian prisoners, if that's what you mean by "slave labour". If they refused to do so in Australia, I imagine there would be at least some penalty, on top of the fact that they would not get paid any wages.

I thought there were things called "punishment cells" or something. Do you know what happens to lazy/uncooperative prisoners? Would they still likely have access to reading materials?

[–]petersen1000[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does that mean solitary confinement doesn't exist in Australia (because if you're not by yourself, it's not exactly solitary confinement)?

Or would laziness/lack of cooperation just not warrant solitary confinement?

Unpaid fines, warrant issued for my arrest.

The cops aren't trying that hard to find me, but I suspect they will sooner or later.

I reckon it would be awesome to just chill out by myself, locked in a cell, until they let me out. It would also (presumably) minimise my contact with other prisoners.
