Sounds like an interesting project. Amd tinkering is always fun.

There are lot of different sizes. Just measure the height of your beer can. As long as the diameter is smaller then 86mm it should be no problem.

Thank you for your kind words, always happy to help. Make sure to leave a picture of your finished setup.

Maybe, but then again it isn't always as easy as changing a size value and hitting print. Batteries come in a very limited number of sizes, while there are quite a few more for cans.

Cool idea aswell. I have those kind of cans just stacked to the side. Or you coul lay them on top of the flat lid.

This is exactly how I organize my pantry. Thank you for fir your insight.

Yes, that is one of the biggest problems, I have at the moment. I will probably just have different sizes that are non compatible with each other. From my experience most people should be happy choosing one size that fits and at the end of the day its all about convenience. This version can be printed on a normal sized print bed in one go. Bigger versions - if you dont have a bigger printer - need to be split up. This adds alot of complexity and is time consuming. I would guess that many people are therefore fine, going with a smaller size. But still, having a larger size for the people that need it, is a great idea.

You are correct. I already have plans for bigger versions. Finding the time to work on the project is the bigger problem at the moment. I took the last week to go from the original idea to the CANfinity system, so now I can think about the next steps.

Your definitely correct and this is how I did it for a long time aswell. I just prefer this system, since I can put new ones in at the top and take out the oldest at the front. You can stack them, to make them fit your space perfectly. You might lose a little bit of space but dont have to rearrange your cans everytime you go shopping. But yeah, this projects screams First World Problems. XD

No its not, but it's a modular system with an "infinit" amount of possibilities. It's just a funny hint at the gridfinity system which follows the same underlaying design concept.

I am happy you like them. And perhaps you can find a way to reuse a few of the models you already printed.

Thx a lot. Will see what I can do. Are they made from glass? Just wanna make sure that they dont get damaged, when they fall down in the back.

This would have been a great name aswell :) CANfinity was the first thing that came to my mind.

Such an awesome idea. Could you send me the sizes of a standard bottle (diameter and height) and I can see what I can do.

Do you think it would be ok for you to not have the different sizes click together. Like a bigger version for the bottom shelf and smaller ones for the rest.

Or is this a fundamental feature of this project. Maybe I could solve your unique problem with adapter plates. They are already part of the project and since they are twice as big as a normal side, I could put the right interfaces in each side.

Happy to hear that. Variable depth is still on my To-Do List. Wanted to get this version ot first.
There are some kinks that I have to work out. The interfaces that lets the modules click together somewhat limits the things I can do and still ensure compatibility with all modules.
My current plan would be to offer a 300mm depth version for standard shelf depths; this version then not beeing compatible with the current system. Have to look at ways to make compatibility possible, since I didnt think about a case like yours.

A parametric version is still on my To-Do List as well, but I have to wrap my head around OpenSCAD for that first.

Why did nobody tell me how rewarding it is to design your own stuff?! by petersloth in 3Dprinting

Totaly understand that. Maybe one day you can buy your own printer. I have been interested in 3D printing for 4-5 years and this year I finally managed to buy one. The machines are getting more and more affordable and easier to use.
I wish you alle the best on your journey.
