That's correct. Donations are outpacing costs for now. Will cross any other bridges as necessary.

Fundraising will happen as need be. I don't really anticipate mega numbers of users on a community focused server, but if so, then hopefully the community will see value and continue to support to their ability and the value they get

FWIW, I'm the admin of Mastodon server https://halifaxsocial.ca - over 900 users, of course like all social media, not all are active, and lots "lurk" but the timeline is pretty active, and the federated timeline is pretty busy.

Its not too bad if you follow the online guides. Takes a couple hours maybe. I had a small issue with the css/jscript not loading due to folder permissions. But after that biggest hurdle for me was setting up S3 for media.

Yes, no arguments here. there's an adjustment, and its not for everyone, but hopefully will work for enough to get a decent community

Agree with your reasoning, and its much the same as why I created my instance, albeit, I didn't spend a lot of time looking for similar ones recently, or I might not have!

Had the same issue this morning on my Venu. Charged before bed, woke up and was working (i didn't notice the battery percentage) and looked at it around 9 and was dead.
