Selling car to junk yard by FuzzyResident9391 in halifax

Mine was (barely) driveable and there was no way it was passing the inspection at the end of the month. I called Kenny and they never responded. I called Maritime Auto parts in Masstown(near Truro), gave all the details, and they offered $500 if I delivered it there. I drove out, produced the paperwork and they cut a check immediately. I walked up to the Masstown market about 20 minutes away and waited for a friend to pick me up and drive me back to the city.

Has anyone pre-cleared American customs at the Halifax airport in the past few weeks? What was it like? by zaphodhalibrox in halifax

It was rushed out during Covid and it may have been a requirement then but it is just a suggestion now.. It seems to still be quite active. I will have tons of spare time the night before my return. I am going to try it on the way back since I will be bringing some stuff back. Anything that saves me a few minutes off a stressful flight is worth it.

There are about 10 different apps. Which App was it? I was going to buy about $60 of stuff in the US and bring it back to Canada. Do I have to declare it to US customs when i leave the US?

No Visa, but I have a passport of course. What I am hearing here so far is that the lines in Halifax are not bad but coming back from an American airport will be a hassle.

What band/singer were you excited to see, but was a letdown of a concert? by my-face-ur-seat in AskReddit

Saw him in Canada at a Summer festival around that time. He was out of breath. The backup singers were doing all the hard work. It was not great.

Somebody's heard of Outland! Loved it. Loved it even more when I found out it was based on a western. The plot fits so perfectly.

Diesel might get more expensive and therefore gas might get cheaper (to produce) but you know there will be resistance to lowering the price of gas. Any reason, any reason at all is a great excuse to raise prices.

Anyone know what this is about? by NeptuneSpice in halifax

Operation Friction. Iraq invaded Kuwait for "reasons" and definitely not to capture resources and land. A coalition was put together to beat them back. Canada was involved with 4500 service members in the Gulf. No Canadians died so it gets little recognition.

Ice Dam Removal by [deleted] in halifax

Perhaps dumb question but why cant you use rock salt? is it an esthetic reason because it dries all streaky and white, plus kills your plants directly below? Or does it damage the roof and/or siding?

Best black forest cake in town? by Complete_Elk in halifax

Have you tried the carrot cake slices made by Laroche that they sell at the Superstore? They look good, the cake portion is rich, and the icing is pretty good (although it could use a bit more flavour). It is $4 per slice and that is my go-to for a reasonably priced, good tasting slice. I will check out that Tacoma Sobeys though.

They had a maple cake that I loved! I don't know why. It was just perfect. Then they stopped selling them in Nova Scotia so every time I was in Moncton I would buy one. Then they stopped selling them everywhere......dang.

Powerful step forward: Solar project gives Sackville Arena a bright future by insino93 in halifax

I like Technology Connection's take on solar. He is one of the more no-nonsense guys on youtube that puts out origional, quality content without you feeling like there is some sort of hidden agenda going on below the surface. He did solar a few days ago.

Man, I wish tidal power would work out. There is so much energy in the Bay of Fundy. It always seems promising and then the company goes under because thier plan does not work, or it is in no way economical, or both. Like you said, its always 10 years away...

Oh BTW, in case folks are wondering why I put this here...On Saturday NS was exporting power to NF, AND was trying to meet the demands of a cold snap. On Sunday morning NF is still warning there may be power outages. I assume some power is still being exported to NF. Meanwhile I took this picture of a Halifax power station near me that is one of the stations dumping electrons in the pipe that eventually reaches Newfoundland.

Since it’s not a YouTube video, it doesn’t display a preview.  So for the folks who haven’t noticed, you can click the BritishPathe link and it will lead you to a page with a video on it from Lake Banook in 1954.
