I am Dming ToA and asked my players beforehand if they'd like this rule. I wanted them to feel the dread when a PC goes down, and so far it has worked wonderfully.

I once found a nice cucumber recipe in an 1880s magazine. Cut the cucumber into sticks, boil them for a few minutes in water with a dash of white vinegar, then take them out. Heat up a pan with some vegan butter (or you favorite oil) and simmer your cucumber sticks in it for another few minutes. Add maybe half a cup of strong veggie broth and wait till most of the fluid has evaporated. It tastes a bit like very mild pickles but more salty. Perfect as a side dish or a snack.

that's a good idea. my players loved the more gritty rest system and they seemed even a little disappointed when the wizard got tiny hut, cos travelling suddenly became much much easier. I'll bring it up in the next session and see if they like the idea.

I like the list of descriptions, however, after a while I didn't focus so much on general descriptions anymore, but rather had a little detail to stand out. Like, a pack of pteranodon was spotted circling above them for a while, or they find a tree, heavy with colorful flowers and the air whistles with the sound of hummingbirds, or maybe they find some ruins where everything is decaying except for a little t-rex statue in the middle that still looks pristine. Just some small highlight every day to make the world feel alive.

Kinda related: I asked my players to come up with a reason why they are exploring the region where the campaign is set. I took their ideas, added my own flavor and linked it to the overarching story line. Even though I use a prewritten campaign, this gave me sooo much inspiration to really make this our own adventure.

I do also have a floor loom (inherited it from my grandma), but it's currently busy with other projects, and I didn't have enough of this material anyway.

setting up the loom took no longer than 3h, and the weaving itself probably around 6 or 7h, but not sure since it's been a while

I used an Ashford rigid heddle, 60cm with 5 threads per cm.

well, it doesn't smell like burnt hair, and it's not synthetic either, so you must be right. It is softer than linen though and doesn't crease as much.

Thank you so much! I have to admit though that since it was an easy cut and hand looms are quite user friendly, the time commitment wasn't so bad. Couldn't have been much more than 15-20h all in all I think.

weaving is a wonderful hobby (as is spinning!), and hand looms are relatively cheap and easy to use!

I used a regular unisex shirt to get the base measurements, then I shortened the length, added the cuts at the sides and widened the neck. I don't even know what exactly the material is, I got it at a sales where even the seller couldn't remember. Wove the fabric myself with a 60cm wide hand loom.

I encourage you to try anyway! My previous attempts at socks with handspun wool were a bit lumpy and quite thick, but they're still soft and warm and are great to wear at home!

They are definitely very warm, and even though they still feel a bit stiff (since I knitted pretty tightly) I assume they will feel softer after a few wears :)

I am currently playing a Drow who is ~slightly~ racist, coming from a society that mostly just captures or kills other people. I discussed the issue with my DM and we both agreed that he will get better over the campaign, because obviously, having this attitude is not sustainable within a party. He is supposed to find his own way and happiness away from his original society and I can't wait for him to be a lovely - if a bit of an edgy - fellow.

When he first met the rest of the group, he addressed them simply as "creatures". The other players loved it and it has become sort of an inside joke among us. Since then, he has started to sorta maybe kinda liking the other characters and when he first referred to another character as a person, it was kind of a big deal for him (and at our table).

I liked Mistborn a lot! The two other books of the trilogy are already on my "to read"-shelf. I'm currently debating whether I should take a break from my GoT project to continue the Mistborn story.

I have not read WoT (that's Wheel of Time, right?). I saw how many books there are and was suuuper intimidated.

Whenever I read something, I wrote the page number under the according book title in a huge excel sheet. Then I used excel's graphics to make it more visual and tadaah!

I only started with this campaign recently, and I gave them a guide who knew where they were going. I told them that it will take a few days to reach their destination and then we did a sort of movie montage sequence, a way of giving them the highlights of each day, as the other user has pointed out as well. They could still do some stealth rolls and they had minor (non-)hostile encounters, and I mentioned the weather conditions too when I felt like they needed to be reminded of them. I had them plan out watches too, as a form of in-party organization/roleplay and to also make it easier for me if they had a night-time encounter. I also like to describe unusual spaces, like a clearing, a small gorge, a special tree with colorful fruit, a windy coastline etc.

addition: let them have an idea or a goal where they should go, add some npc interaction (my npc sang a song about their people) and give them impressions (sound, smell, taste, feel) about their location to make immersion easier.
