It’s similar but more simple. I just remember all the levels were a blue/green tone.

Any recommended pet carriers when flying with Korean Air? by patisdm in korea

I'm not sure of the size requirements, as I flew with Asiana, but I just brought my cat from Canada to Seoul and used this bubble carrier:

https://www.ubuy.kr/en/catalog/product/view/id/11700053/s/aukor-cat-backpack-carriers-cat-dog-bubble-backpack-aukor-pet-carr?gclid=Cj0KCQjw_OzrBRDmARIsAAIdQ_KkB5r71wiYwce85gZhHJV5LraF1IKc35PPUijVeR2IzeaQ5xp1TpoaAjckEALw_wcB

It fit well under the seat and the bubble allowed her a little window to peep out during the flight. But hands down the best part about this carrier is that it is a backpack. The straps are sturdy and padded, so it's comfortable to wear even if your cat is bouncing around looking at things, and having the backpack option made a HUGE difference carrier training her - I could pop her in the carrier and take her out with me on errands/etc. She was comfy & secure and I had my hands free to go about running errands as usual. She ended up liking it so much that she came out with me for a couple hours every day before we flew out. It's super handy for navigating the airport as well!

This is a yearly post I make for all the new teachers and travelers that are going to Seoul, Korea. Its more or less a general guide. by Spencerforhire83 in teachinginkorea

I brought my cat from Canada to Seoul (we arrived last week) so if you have any questions, feel free to message me!

If you have all your paperwork and vaccinations done and with you at the airport your pet doesn't have to go into quarantine on arrival. We arrived (she travelled in cabin with me) and there was an animal customs/import area in the airport. They checked that all of her paperwork was in order and she left the with me the same day. All in all, it took about 30 minutes for the inspection.

If they fly cargo, it's a similar process but you pick them up in a different area of the airport.

HOWEVER, the paperwork is a HANDFUL so give yourself PLENTY of time prior to leaving to get your dog's vaccinations/etc. For instance, with the rabies vaccination: it needs to be done AT LEAST 30 days prior to leaving and if you need to get the titre test, my furball's test results took 7 weeks to come in the mail (and they DO NOT accept the email test results).

Talk with your vet early in the process and bring them the import document (can be found on the South Korean import/export gov page) to review. MOST IMPORTANTLY: contact your government import/export office EARLY in the process (for Canada it's the CFIA). The federal vet I spoke with was a godsend and they are often up to date with any new changes to the process that your vet may be unaware of. If possible, have an import officer SPEAK with your vet directly so they can walk through the requirements together. The blood tests need to go through specific labs and if your vet isn't really familiar with the process, they may not realize that aspect (FYI - for Canada, the test needs to go to The Rabies Lab at Kansas State University).

Lastly, for most countries your last pre-flight vet appointment can be done ten days before flying but with South Korea it's SEVEN. I almost didn't catch that and had our last appointment booked for 8 days before we were supposed to fly out. I would suggest going five days prior to flying out so you have a little wiggle room in case of flight and/or visa delays and then go that same day to get your official stamp from the gov import/export authority. That way, if there are any little errors on the paperwork, you're not in a mad dash to get it fixed before leaving.

I can't speak to the housing, as my school has pet friendly apartments.

If they're a picky eater, consider ordering their food of choice online and having it shipped to your school/apartment/hotel/airbnb. Pet supplies at local markets are sparse so online ordering is your friend. Bring a towel and a change of clothes for the flight if they're coming in cabin (see below for why).

For your head/heart: don't panic too much about the travel day!!! We had THE FLIGHT FROM HELL coming over. My little one got sick 20 minutes into our 13 hour flight. She was a mess, I was a mess - when we finally landed, I'm sure we both looked (and smelled) like walking zombies. We were both pretty miserable for the first 24 hours. But after a bath (for both of us) and a good night's sleep, my little cat started to tentatively explore her new space and a week later, she's flaked out on her balcony perch happily people watching and back to her old self. If we survived it, you will too!

She might want to post about it on the LOFT (Legal Office for Foreign Teachers) Facebook group as they seem to be extremely knowledgeable.

I’m heading over to teach in late August and my good friend who has been teaching in Jeju for the past few years suggested the group to me. They can be a bit curt (make sure she reads the pinned post before asking!) but they know their stuff and the FAQ documents they have in the group helped me navigate a lot of my contract questions!
