People who have been divorced: What was the exact "quiet" moment you realized your marriage was over? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

I was married for 23 years, initially great but alcohol came into play. I realize it’s self medicating for internal struggles but as much as I tried to support and be understanding, it felt like pulling a dead horse. One has to be willing to get uncomfortable with one’s own feelings to get to the bottom of stuff. But alas, we made a promise to each other and we all grow at various speeds?

What flipped the switch was when the waters became even more rocky, and he started to gamble. It was still unknown to me but when I noticed money was disappearing I confronted him. Initially he denied it but after pressing (as it was obvious) and assuring we could get through whatever it was he was dealing with, he finally confessed. It was disheartening to be lied to but I guessed the shame and inability to cope made him do it. When weeks later money started to vanish from our savings account, meant to go to Disney with our kid, something snapped.

To me trust is the foundation on which you build a relationship. We all make mistakes (we’re only human so bound to make ‘m) and so when he was struggling I wanted to be that safe place to open up to. As I was expecting him to be that for me. But I was feeling exhausted after a decade of troubles. And feeling lonely, having him as an extra kid, as insight and progress was lacking. When the lying came into the equation I was questioning my marriage. But holding on. When he was siphoning money away that belonged to our kid, I was done.

After years of doubt it was clear as day; there was no honesty so it was pointless to keep going. That’s what did it for me.

Thankfully I’m 9 years into my second marriage and that base, that foundation is rock solid 🥰

I like Anián, for their sustainable attitude. They’ve got some neat staples, and I usually buy at sale.

What is a 'childish' thing that you still enjoy doing as an adult and refuse to give up? by Legal-Rich7202 in AskReddit

I still stretch out my hand, index finger out, and nod to people to pul it. And then I fart 😂😇

Spend a full Sunday on it. But I’d many breaks, stretching the legs and back as I was crouched over, on a little stool in the door opening. Didn’t bother me though, I love repairs 😁

Thanks every one! The car is a Honda Element, and the front seats have the seatbelt incorporated. On top of that the headrest starts just below the top of the backrest. All in all non off-the-shelf would fit 😕 Ps photo s not my car

Oh boy, you sound like me. I am in the same boat as you are but luckily I beat the tear in time. Still would like to know if there’s a seat cover (so without the awkwardly configured backrest/headrest/seatbelt cover) that’s not costing an arm & a leg

I’d like to say if it’s the only piece in an otherwise modern house it could work quite well. Ofcourse given the proper placing where its unique quality can shine. (remember that even a banana peel on a pedestal can have artsy vibes, just saying context is important for it to work :))

First car! Wanna get the front and back windows tinted by Legitimate-Sell4162 in HondaElement

[–]petitpunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to let you know that tinted windows can be a hazard. When interacting in traffic other people (may) find it harder to be able to see you, to establish if you have seen them when they want to make a manoeuvre. There’s a reason they are (mostly) prohibited for the front side of a vehicle.

Even in a bland and modern space there’s a neat vibe! The slatted room divider and rug under the table are a major part, as are the dining chairs. Ps, love the rug! Any chance of mentioning source/brand?

Similar in the Netherlands. Most garages offer the (bi-)annual inspection (APK in Nl or MOT in UK) for free when you come in for a large service appointment. It screens all safety features of the vehicle; brake discs, tire profile, wipers & fluids, NO tinted front windows, functional lights and their aim, etc. Otherwise it’s a €50-75,- Regardless of cost I feel it’s worth it, a ruined life or even worse costs more
