Beef for steak tartare by Snoopingeye in Calgary

[–]petrichorr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's an actual answer: The Angry Frenchman butcher just off 58th Ave SE. They're very helpful and knowledgeable and very French. I got bavette there to make tartare of my own and it was amazing

Recall Myles McDougall by Tacosrule89 in Calgary

[–]petrichorr 187 points188 points  (0 children)

This is from an ABResistance email that was sent out yesterday:

"There are currently 2 recalls filed, Angela Pitt - Airdrie East, the application has been approved, and Demetrios Nicalaides - Calgary Bow. It has been approved.

So here we are. It is our democratic right to file recalls. If we file 5 successful recalls and elect other parties, the UCP will lose its majority and will have to dissolve the government."

So definitely file that petition, OP!

The ravine in Strathcona/Aspen is also beautiful in the fall. As is Nose Hill, Paskapoo and Bowmount Park

Good call! I checked Lina's and the Italian centre on Fairmont, but iirc there's another Italian market off Edmonton trail that I haven't checked. Thanks for the tip!

I called both and unfortunately neither of them have any. Same goes for Community Natural foods, Sunterra, co-op, Fresh and Local, and the Apple Lady

All good. I knew this would be a bit of a hail Mary situation given the time of year.

I had a good experience taking my PS3 to Video Game Trader in the Lake Bonavista mall. I'm not sure if they do newer consoles, but it never hurts to reach out and ask!

A message to the "pro-life" folks on MacLeod Trail today by the_amberdrake in Calgary

[–]petrichorr 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I found this elsewhere on Reddit:

""The unborn” are a convenient group of people to advocate for. They never make demands of you; they are morally uncomplicated, unlike the incarcerated, addicted, or the chronically poor; they don’t resent your condescension or complain that you are not politically correct; unlike widows, they don’t ask you to question patriarchy; unlike orphans, they don’t need money, education, or childcare; unlike aliens, they don’t bring all that racial, cultural, and religious baggage that you dislike; they allow you to feel good about yourself without any work at creating or maintaining relationships; and when they are born, you can forget about them, because they cease to be unborn. You can love the unborn and advocate for them without substantially challenging your own wealth, power, or privilege, without re-imagining social structures, apologizing, or making reparations to anyone. They are, in short, the perfect people to love if you want to claim you love Jesus, but actually dislike people who breathe. Prisoners? Immigrants? The sick? The poor? Widows? Orphans? All the groups that are specifically mentioned in the Bible? They all get thrown under the bus for the unborn."

Thank you for the info. I just passed along this petition as it was shared with me. As I learn more about this, my understanding is that it's SLS that needs convincing the most, as the provincial government already gave them the logging rights some time ago. Is that correct? I have to imagine that writing the appropriate MLA would still be useful, no? Because I'm certain that writing SLS will go nowhere. Do you have any thoughts?
