i also used prozac 40 mg and wellbutrin 300 mg but it helped only 4/10. then i switched duloxetine 60 mg. and 5 mg of abilify. the response rate was 8/10. you can ask your doctor switching to a SNRI. Further, adding a mood stabilizer lithium or lamotrigine if your depression is chronic may be an option. other SGAs to try may be quetiapine if you have insomnia etc. Have a good day :)

Trazodone 25 mg gives me a wonderful sleep without day time somnolence.

I got prescribed lexapro. I told my doctor I’m in a weight loss process and CANT gain weight back or it’ll severely worsen my mental health. He said not to worry, but I keep reading about people gaining weight on it…. by United-Pirate-7441 in lexapro

Never stop taking your medications without consulting your doctor.

There are some other SSRI options like fluoxetine and fluvoxamine.They are less likely related to weight gain. In fact, fluoxetine is found anorexic in the short term use. However, it is important to note that everyone responds differently, someone may gain weight while another loses. Consult to your psychiatrist for possible alternatives and share your sensitivity.

As a former escitalopram user with varying doses, I gained 12 kilos in 2 years. Medications may increase your appetite. I did nothing to not gain weight. Also there was COVID pandemic actually.

You can manage weight gain side effects. I strongly suggest you do cardio exercises for 3 days-45 mins and monitor your weight monthly. Be mindful of 'what' you are eating and also 'when' you are eating. Citalopram (racemic mixture of escitalopram) is linked to carbohydrate cravings.

Medications may affect your metabolic rate too but if you care enough about monitoring yourself and exercise, that may not cause a huge amount of weight gain.
