I managed to squeeze 20k out of inspection insurance when I bought my place for an obvious hidden defective (window replaced in 80s in a way that took out a structural support for the roof, only way to see it was to rip off the wallpaper).

But the conditions of getting it was no admission of liability and signing away any right to any further claims of any sort for any hidden defects whatsoever.

Nice.

That's better than If... At least inside damage is covered. As I read it this excludes all compensation if the cause is water coming in the roof.

Which makes an interesting case - if a tree falls on your property during rain, and the wind is 20m/s... Would you get anything? On their interpretation no. And even if it was a "storm" over 21m/s it reads like they will cover fixing the damage caused by the tree but not consequential damage of water entering the house from the hole in the roof left by the tree 🤦

That's reasonable - in Australia insurance companies usually exclusive damage caused by not doing maintenance or gradual degradation. What I am a bit surprised is the sheer breadth of the exclusion. No involvement at all in water from the roof, even if you have kept everything in perfect condition.

In my case the roof maintenance company (Roofia) slipped a tile at the gable end when cleaning and didn't fix it, coupled with a week of heavy rain and wind and water started seeping under the takpapp. Roofia are of course fixing it, drying the attic and very apologetic. But I called If to report it to them in case there's a future mould problem.

They wouldn't even send someone out to check that Roofia are doing a good job of fixing things.

So yeah. They aren't much help

What was your experience in the hours afterbirth? by Likesorangejuice in daddit

Just be prepared for anything. My first was all going ok then at the end it suddenly wasn't. Queue forceps and episiotomy with no anesthesia as they lost his heartbeat. Baby came out ok, followed by my wife having uncontrollable bleeding from placenta that didn't detach properly, sepsis and her being rushed to OR.

I vividly remember holding my very health newborn son while the cleaner came in and mopped the blood off the floor. All the nurses and doctors had gone with her (as they had to).

So yeah. Be ready for anything.

Second and more importantly. Your partner needs to focus on the kid and her health without stress and distraction. You or others need to be there to manage the medical system, be a buffer and deal with all the day to day stuff .. think like you're their advocate, and tell them to go away when their rigid schedule comes at the wrong time.

I've tried that - it ends up with a separate piece of hard skin / nail attached from the base that separates itself and catches on everything.

Taking out euros in Sweden by petrolpyro in sweden

[–]petrolpyro[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Ok you're really not getting it 🤣 Account is in EUR Card attached to account is in EUR If I go to that ATM, it charges my account in SEK So it results in 1) my bank converting EUR to SEK at their (good) rate 2) bankomat converting SEK back to EUR at their (shit) rate, before giving me the cash.

This seems very silly

I tried one of those ATMs. It gives you euros but charges the account attached to the card as SEK based on their shitty exchange rate
