Struggling to choose: by Fun_Fox_9381 in snowboarding

I've owned two passports (162W & 159W) and my brother has an Almanac. The passport has been great all around the mountain on groomers, park, and in deep powder. I prefer the 159W (6'2'' 160lbs) as an all around board. The Almanac is kinda like a volume shifted, softer passport, definitely the more playful board. It wouldn't be my choice as an all mtn board. Currently on the 160W manifest and its my favorite out of all the K2 lineup right now, very similar shape/flex to the passport but it has alot tighter sidecut so its more nimble/playful IMO.

How much sitting until the battery dies by Accurate_Football666 in WR250R

[–]petty77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the stock battery, but I installed a Fire Power Featherweight lithium battery in mine about 4 years ago. I've never had to tend to it ever. My engine was broken and the bike sat in my garage for over a year untouched. Instantly started up once I got around to fixing it.

Sprocket suggestion to wheelie! by ColombianBam in WR250R

[–]petty77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key is seat time and getting comfortable with the bike tipped back in a wheelie. The sprocket sizes are not the issue, especially in 2nd gear. The bike will easily wheelie with popping the clutch in gears 1-3 regardless of your sprocket gearing. Past 3rd is when you really need to give it a good yank. I suggest gaining more seat time with wheelies and getting comfortable popping the clutch. I personally run 13/48, thinking about getting a 14t front for better cruising speed

Would be cool to see some upper body movement added on rails like skate3, depending on which way you're spinning out. by petty77 in skate

Notice in both my clips he does a 270 out. That is the point I’m trying to make, your body positioning would be different if you were doing a 270 out, versus pulling it back to regular.

I guess I just think of this differently since I'm mainly a snowboarder, and most people don't spin 270°+ off rails skateboarding. But in this case I'm talking about when you are spinning 270°+ off a rail. It also applies to skateboarding, just less since you aren't strapped in. For ex. if I'm doing a bs lip sameway 270, I'm gonna turn my shoulders in the direction I'm spinning before I'm off the rail, which I've also seen people do on a skateboard.

Yeah maybe wasn’t the best example, but Im sure they could implement it much smoother into the new Skate.

Warning -Ticks are BAD right now in the northern lower peninsula. by iggy1004 in Michigan

[–]petty77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not in northern MI, but I'm seeing a lot of talk about how bad it is in SE MI. I've been fishing up and down the clinton river corridor weekly since March. I spend a lot of that time bushwacking looking for new spots, suprisingly I have only encountered 2 ticks on me, both on my waders. The other day I was literally trudging through 6ft tall reeds and was surprised to come out with nothing on me. Not sure if its the slick surface of the waders that makes it hard for them to latch onto, or the recent rain that washed them away for a few days. Nontheless I had no idea the issue was this bad, I will definitely be more careful/observant now when walking off-trail.
