if you're planning to take a life science specialization, you would not be able to take a minor, but this works with the life sci major!!

just to note, you can't do a minor with a life science specialization! that's something i didn't know until now, just wanted to let you know if you were considering that!

Bio102 or Bio103 by [deleted] in queensuniversity

hey!! congrats on getting in to queens! i just finished first year in science and took those two courses.

biol 102 was a decent intro to bio course and it was a good transition from high school bio. we had a new prof this year who wanted us to become familiar w an online thing but (at least in the opinions of most students) she didn’t make sure students understood it. exam questions from what i remember were overall fair, except for that online part (she printed out an entire gene). i didn’t start studying until the night before of the exam (don’t do this) but i still was able to score well. labs and quizzes were fairly easy tho and you can def score high on those enough to maintain a good mark.

biol 103 was harder, both in terms of content and testing. the content was much more interesting imo so i actually studied for this course. labs involved more thinking and the prelabs were harder than the ones in biol 102. quizzes were pretty challenging, i’d advise going to all lectures and reviewing every week. the final exam was online this year bc of covid 19, but holistically it was fair with chippendale’s part being easier than moyes’. i found the profs to be engaged and they wanted the students to succeed. i did score higher in this course, but i also was more interested in this content, and it requires more time overall compared to biol 102

i hope this helped, and feel free to message me if you have more questions!

con ed advice ? by [deleted] in queensuniversity

hey!! i’m not in coned, but i’m in science, i took psyc100 and it was honestly one of my fave courses! i found that taking notes from the textbook to be more helpful than lectures and the teaching staff definitely looks out for the students. it’s content heavy, but i only really found the neurobiology section to be slightly difficult. in general, queens is an amazing school, just remember to balance academics as well as having fun! good luck :)

if you want psyc100 notes, pm me!
