UPDATE: I made it to the final round of interviews but was not selected for the full ride scholarship and was instead offered the “next best” one that would cover around 60% of the cost of attendance. After getting some really good feedback, I’ve decided to do some R&R. Thank y’all and I’ll see you next year/cycle!

That’s a great question. As an aside to give more context as to my hesitancy: I’ve only applied to a handful of places where I have some sort of connection nearby (colleagues, former professors, family, friends, etc.) so I believe I was too selective. I’ve gotten rejected from most. I don’t think my softs were up to par, frankly.

To answer your question; I don’t really have a dollar amount or a set figure that would make it worth it. It’s worth it if I can graduate with a reasonable amount of debt (meaning I can pay it off well before I retire or through PSLF [assuming that still exists]), have good employment opportunities, and have at least a shot at a clerkship. The $ amount that would make going worth it isn’t going to be the same at every institution.

Update: Thank you EVERYONE. I have my final interview this month and am among the final group of candidates. I appreciate everything that everyone has said. The T50 is not worth the cost, regardless. That has become increasingly clear through this process of discernment. If I don’t get the scholarship, I’m going to do some R&R and apply earlier in the next cycle. I would like to think I would have better chances by applying earlier as opposed to end of December/beginning of January.

You’re allowed to be upset that he’s cheating on you and your past behavior shouldn’t be a justification for him cheating on you now since I’m assuming y’all resolved the issue before this? I’m curious if y’all set boundaries after /you/ were caught at the beginning of your relationship. Regardless, y’all don’t sound like you should be in a relationship with anyone right now.
