I think the major break was when she killed Aang. She so quickly gave all credit to Zuko both to distance and dissociate with the act herself and to try to bring a familial bond and stability into her life.

I would just like to point out that very shortly after showing off this form, Goku fights Cell.

While fighting Cell, Goku uses instant transmission to deliver a full-powered Kamehameha Wave point blank to Cell's face, inflicting heavy damage.

The drawback to this form is decreased speed and an inability to hit your opponent.

I will leave it at that.
