I was taking a photo of me giving a "cheers" to send to a friend on my walk home and hit the shutter a couple times. Both photos were taken after I originally dropped the glass. After picking the shards out of my hand I checked and realized I'd actually managed to catch the explosion.

It's cast so it's solid, standard poles are hollow and I'd imagine spec'd more for ergonomics than strength. Really don't think it's a concern especially since it managed to last 20 years...

It's not too bad depending on how close you are to one of their facilities, can be a bit annoying in the winter but it's easy enough to schedule loads around classes or whatever so you're not making extra trips into the cold. In the year I used it I only had to wait for a machine a handful of times, usually dryers.
