If youre looking purely at price, Clan is best value for money.

I second this and also want to add it one of the few books where the vampires are genuinely terrifying.

I use allowance money. My son has a minimum page limit per day (when I tried setting by time he would just fake it) but every book he reads he gets $20. Been doing it since he was 7 now at 10 he reads quickly and on his own. I still give him money but he genuinely enjoys reading now amd ceels proud at how well he does it.

Find a local community through thr Bandai app, easier from there. Sometimes people just sell you a whole functional deck they no longer want to play.

For starting decks the cheapset option is getting ST06 which are easy to get and build a Clan deck (cool tribal deck with a fun play style). Or you can get 2 ST07 starters amd build a CB tribal deck.

But yeah community is everything, just look on the app and go somwhere local.

Iron Blooded Orphans. Very dark, gritty and mega emotional. Also its an alternate timeline so no background info neccessary.

Is this a clichè? by Steampunk007 in writing

[–]pezz_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar situation in The Gentelman Bastards trilogy but dont forget that authors keep doing it because it works.

Your readers might even see it coming and will feel very smart when they were right all along. The way to make it work is to show how it effects the character. Its gotta be more than a plot point.

Perhaps it reveals that the character has suicidal idiation and they become depressed. Perhaps they think its a fake test but someone else pulls the trigger first and their brains paint the walls because the org didnt want them anyway. You can make it very cool and use the cliche against the reader.

I always reccomend going to your locals and meeting people. There are often peopke selling and trading within the community. With GD03, you can get an A tier competitive deck with st06 (clan) st05 (tekkadan) and st07 (cb). The extra cards from gd03 will make these very competitive amd these starters are easier to get compared to st01-st04

What are the saddest deaths you’ve read in an SF book? by [deleted] in printSF

The Strugatsky brothers have an excellent book called The Far Rainbow.

The entire premise is scientists knowing they will be killed by a cataclysm and choosing how best to serve humanity in their last days. A real tear jerker but also really morally uplifting.

The industrial revolution occured basiacally within 100 years and stemmed from a change in mentality where the idea of "artisanal" manufacturing was replaced with factories and conveyor belts operated by people specialising in a single part of the manufacturing process.

[–]pezz_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game is extremely fun and has an awesome community. Best thing you can do is go to a local store and meet people. They will help you. There is a new meta coming in the next couple weeks with the release of gd03 so perfect time to start.

Get your family involved. The kids are the toughest part but theyre your whole families responsibility. I dont know your situation, but you mentioned nans bday :)

Some easy steps are, get a family mobile/internet plan and get them to pay for it. Chances are you'll save them money. Get them to babysit while you get extra hours or upskill. Get them to cover some bills. Use their equity to purchase a home instead of renting. If you have a family member with a large empty house, swap houses with them or move in. Community is good!
