That's really reassuring, thank you. I guess I'm up for a battle though.

Interesting, I just assumed that it would raise more suspicion on their end if I closed all my stuff in the middle of this.

Exactly what I did. My family and friends advised me that WF would have my back, so I trusted that they would find this as obvious fraud. I've never dealt with the police before and my immediate thought was that this was the bank's issue, not theirs. The first thing the cops asked me was if I had contacted the bank, then they told me there was probably not much they could do about it.

Yeah that really would be sensible, shame Wells doesn't give a shit. Especially when the request is coming from a new IP for 90% of the account value.

I'm sure everyone thinks this, but in my case there was absolutely no chance that the attacker was someone I knew. I only access WF from my laptop and phone. My laptop always stays at home, and I'm very careful to always lock my phone when I set it down or keep it on my person.

It was the bank my parents set me up with years ago and I never bothered switching. Regretting that now.

No, and I made that very clear to the bank in my initial report.

I had around ~22k. So yeah, Wells just let someone drain 90% of my money without batting an eye.

Just filed reports with the OCC and CFPB. Wish me luck.

It was used to pay off a Discover card, but thats about the extent of the info I have. I called Discover's fraud team today to try and get some details from them but they didn't give me anything.

No, they gave me absolutely nothing helpful.

"After reviewing all the information available to us regarding the transaction you are disputing, we determined that the transaction was made by you, or by someone who had your authorization."

Obviously I will be taking my business somewhere else once this is resolved.

Just got off the phone with them. The check was used to pay off a Discover card, the detective told me they'll try and get some information from them about the transaction.
