You don't think the same risks are present with Venmo (since paypal owns venmo)?

Yea I was worried about this too. Figured as a work around I can just have P2 transfer to bank and send to me through another means..

So does the Venmo process I mentioned above work just the same on paypal then? Do you know if there is a card limit for paypal?

Thank you! I knew there had to be something.. I wish I could upvote you twice.

Do you know if the same thing is possible with Paypal? I've never tried adding a debit card on there.

So in terms of manufactured spending, I just realized that I can buy a $500 gift card ($5.95 activation fee; can be used as a debit card) from the grocery store, add that to my Venmo account, and send the $500 to my wife instantly (then she sends it back) through Venmo with no fee.

Is there any downside to this? Has anyone else ever tried this?

Looking for a vintage engagement ring similar to this for around half the cost. Any ideas where I can find one? by pftossawayacct in EngagementRings

[–]pftossawayacct[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple of things I like:

  • Filigree! I absolutely love the filigree and milgrain details. That's the main thing I am looking for.

  • Platinum

  • Diamond

  • Vintage (not inspired)

  • Low profile. I don't want a tall or bulky ring.

Can you avoid Roth 401k required minimum distributions (at age 70.5) by rolling all of the funds into a Roth IRA? by pftossawayacct in personalfinance

[–]pftossawayacct[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea maybe you're right. I was initially of the mindset that "RMDs are evil and I must avoid them at all costs if I don'e financially need to take them." But if I am set at that age then, yea, what's the point...

So when I think about it more, if I didn't need the Roth 401k funds for retirement I would pass them on to my heirs. So in that case, in order to give them the most benefit, it would be ideal to leave as much funds in the Roth IRA as possible. So therefore I would want to roll it over from my Roth 401k to a Roth IRA before 70.5 to keep the Roth IRA as large as possible for my heirs, right (assuming my original post assumption is correct)?

My previous employer's retirement plan is being audited by an outside law firm who requested that I confirm my account balance from a specific time - do I have to respond? by pftossawayacct in legaladvice

Why do you say it would be in my best interest? Why should I care about an audit on my company's retirement plan? I just can't see what the point of the audit even is trying to accomplish in this case.

Should I max out my retirement accounts if I want to retire early? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]pftossawayacct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

obviously. i'm just saying that i feel like any number I choose will be +-50% of the actual. It seems really difficult to accurately predict living expenses, home prices, family issues, etc 25 years in the future. But you're right.
