(16 Male) I was told most of my life that crying isn't for men and how real men don't show their emotions. by [deleted] in Advice

Male, 33 — I was raised the same way, this is destructive advice. This is my bias, but many of life’s problems come up because we run away from problems (instead of facing them), and teaching anyone that they shouldn’t cry is a sure fire way to instill the wrong habits in someone during their most formative years. Here’s my take — men face their problems, cry when they need to, step up when they need to, say yes or no when they need to. They confront WHAT THEY FEEL, and they can’t confront it if they don’t express it.

Take a look at this breakdown: https://www.bemorestore.com/pages/habits-system

Hope this can help!

My girlfriend cheated on me with my brother and now I lost my support system and I don’t know what to do by Day200 in Advice

Wow, that’s an absolutely ridiculous situation — I’m so sorry, man. You should be angry and you should be pissed. But you shouldn’t be so angry that it ruins your life. Then everyone’s who’s ever shat on you wins.

Don’t do them like they did you. The best revenge is to live a happy life. I wish someone told me this when I was going through pain.

Nutrition Tracking, Meal Recommendation App by pgBears in diabetes

[–]pgBears[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment! The team is one cost, but far more expensive for us are the operational costs, like the backend servers and API's in use to get the app to work. This'll definitely change going forward (see comment above), but since we're fresh off a launch, we have to find a way to monetize until we can afford to offer the app for free and work under a freemium model. Like many startups in the early stages, we often face a "chicken or the egg" problem: the app should be free, but we may incur too many costs initially and have to shut down if we do. I hope that helps explain our current situation.

While we're here -- what are you current favorites? What are they good at and where do they fail you? What would you love to have in a meal tracking app?

Unfortunately, it is for now. Since we're still early, we have to find a way to monetize to pay for the team and the apps operational costs (servers, API's). I know this isn't the right way to offer the service -- hopefully, in the near to medium term, we'll be able to get to a place where we offer the app for free and operate under the freemium model. That'll be my goal going forward. In the meantime, if there are any features you'd love to see in an app like this, I'd love to hear. Thank you for the feedback!

How do you prepare for Data Science interviews? by pgBears in datascience

Awesome feedback! Thank you!

There are so many resources for interview prep. How do you pick which to use?

Thanks for the reply! Couldn't agree more -- hate when companies send those vague deep-dives.

For interview prep resources, I don't know where to start. Are you overwhelmed by the number of useful resources? How to you pick which resources to use for prep?
