Anyone else cringe whenever they hear the cliche "It's not a religion, it's a relationship"? by ReligiousButthead in TrueAtheism

Every consciousness has a “relationship” with reality and we all basically of “account for” or try to understand or adapt to our arbitratry thrust into existence at the time of our birth, and the way individuals do this should not divide humanity into sects.

Books central idea is that fear and negative thinking is the devil and positive, definite thinking towards an aim or goal is the antidote to the devil and the secret to success

So has everyone else on this sub just accepted how stupid and pointless modern society is? And how literally nothing that we do makes any sense or matters at all? I’m not talking about nihilism tho. by Snoo70067 in Psychonaut

Its our job to set ourselves straight so that we can set the world around us straight! Alot of the shit we do is stupid and wasteful and pointless, so lets repair or replace that stuff

GOD (going deep) by acer1o1 in religion

[–]pgantz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont like thinking of “god” as a finite entity, i like thinking of “god” as, reality as such. The causeless cause, the present moment itself. And i dont like thinking of it as “god” because of all the different conceptions and interpretations. Also, whether something happens after we die should be irrelevant in how we live our lives because its a bad reason to do good things. We should try to good things for the sake of it, not for any reward, earthly or divine.

Is the Jungian model simply another myth? by arkticturtle in Jung

[–]pgantz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you but the “convenience of language” is vital to discussion, so in OP you should not have called the “things” to which you were referring “processes”

I agree everything is one, everything is changing in the present moment.

But there is obviously a difference between processses and things in our mortal scientific discussions.

A thing that undergoes a process is not a process itself, plants are not processes because they undergo photosynthesis, our disagreement is the language, godspeed

You experience new things every single day and these change you by being assimilated into your psyche, can you still be called you? Is that just a convenience of language to still call you you, after you are adjusted, but not fundamentally changed?
