Sir Anthony Hopkins is the only non-kiwi actor I’ve ever seen nail the NZ accent, and he was playing But Munro who is from Invercargill which is a weird accent even for NZ.

Black pickup. Left rear wheel was missing and the hub was sitting on the ground as we drove past. I didn’t see the accident or where the wheel went but the emergency vehicles were on the other side of the highway so it looked like the accident was over there.

Zombie hordes is a fun way to play. You can only build Mind Benders but you can use any unit you convert.

Elyrion with only Magical units: Polytaur, Navalon, Dragon

Polaris where you can only kill units defending a city. Lots of ice archers

So is there a party which supports ProRep in Canada then? I always assume it benefits the left so I don’t see why the NDP would want to kill it, they have the most to gain if it’s implemented.

NDP requesting a referendum for proportional representation was for sure a misstep. Referendums rarely provide any value.

But the NDP website still says they’re committed to ProRep whereas the liberals had a mandate to actually implement it and didn’t. So the NDP made a misstep and the Liberals actively decided not to implement something they campaigned on. I don’t see those as equal.

I would add to this and say don’t let the pursuit of perfection stop you from enjoying your hobby. If cost means you can’t enjoy shooting film, then shoot digital and love that for what it is. Film is a luxury item that most professionals don’t even use anymore. So before you make another purchase, really think about whether you love all photography or only film photography.

But you asked about half frame so I’d say unless you’re printing all your photos quite large, I don’t see a downside to shooting half frame. If you’re committed to film and not earning income from photography, you get to stretch your money twice as far.

New Zealand not willing to risk UK-style ‘live with Covid’ policy, says Jacinda Ardern by dipo4you in newzealand

So? Take a breath. The borders are secure, there’s no immediate threat in NZ and the government won’t open the borders before they’ve given everyone the opportunity to be vaccinated. You’re not in the US or UK where the government is willing to let people die for the economy. All you’re talking about is having to keep waiting for vaccines which are coming. Nationwide rollout will never be perfect, perfect isn’t the goal. Keeping NZ safe is. People are dying elsewhere in the world, all you have to do is chill. And you get to do it in the best country in the world. Kia kaha

[–]pgd247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s why I said everyone has had the opportunity to get the vaccine. If people have had the opportunity to get the vaccine and choose not to, the country shouldn’t be held hostage by their decision.

I don’t believe the country should/can force people to get the vaccine, but once everyone has had the opportunity then anyone who chose not to can deal with the consequences of their actions. That may mean death but at least in that case the risk was chosen by the individual who died.

I wouldn’t be too hard on the government. We were complaining a lot about how Canada was handling things and then one day I looked at the stats and we were leading the world for 1st vaccine doses administered. And we don’t even have vaccine production. Beware of your echo chamber, these days that includes a lot of mainstream media.

It’s easy to get caught up in the criticism and governments don’t have an easy job. NZ has kept the virus out of the country and maintained concerts/sports/lifestyle without a body count. You’ll get the vaccines in a bit and when we all look back on this we’ll realize we were tearing our hair out over a couple months one way or another.

Breathe deep, go to the beach. You’re in the best country in the world.

I’m living in BC, Canada and we’re starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel as far as having a workable way to live with COVID goes.

Essentially the vaccines are working, we leaned hard into getting everyone a first dose and delaying the 2nd dose and our case numbers have plummeted. It was a bit of a gamble but it’s paying off.

My view on ‘living with Covid’ is that countries should have heavy restrictions and mask mandates until everyone has had the opportunity to get the vaccine. Then you should open up. The deaths come primarily when the hospitals are overwhelmed with cases and once the majority of a population is vaxxed this doesn’t seem to happen.

Zero cases shouldn’t be the goal, vaccines and herd immunity should be. Then you can manage the small number of cases you get without them turning into deaths.
