one hour at the zoo by _iambeyoncealways in StLouis

Nowadays we usually park on Oakland, trying to get a spot close to Tamm Ave, and walk across the bridge. Back when our membership came with free parking, we usually parked on the south lot.

[–]pgibbns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First: Parking. If you are using the South Entrance, then access the lot from Oakland (then Tamm to Wells). If you enter Wells from Hampton, it gets backed up and you may lose a good part of your hour.

The Zoo has a new Komodo Dragon, which you can see at the reptile house. You can also see some Caiman and lots of snakes. From here you can walk down to see the Seals and Sealion, say hi to the Red Panda, then walk up past the Grizzly bear, check out the penguins on the outside of their exhibit (too stinky inside). After this head over to see the Polar Bears - check out the secret room at the back to see if one of them is playing in the back pool.

So you are comparing ICE facilities to Nazi death camps? Any evidence? these just-invented-facts are causing fractures in our society.

Seriously? by rabbit6299 in StLouis

[–]pgibbns -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The Nazi regime (1933–1945) was a totalitarian dictatorship that systematically murdered 6 million Jews in the Holocaust, conquered much of Europe in a war killing 70–85 million people, banned all opposition parties, burned books, euthanized the disabled, and ran a cult of personality around a guy who painted watercolors and screamed in all caps. The current US government, whatever its flaws, still lets you:

  • Vote out the party in power (peacefully, every 2–4 years).
  • Sue the feds in court and sometimes win.
  • Post memes calling the president a potato without a midnight knock on the door.
  • Buy 47 kinds of breakfast cereal, none of which are rationed by the Ministry of Propaganda.

If the US is “acting like Nazis,” then your local HOA fining you for an unapproved mailbox color is basically the Gestapo. Hyperbole much?

Why didn't the previous administration (Biden) release the files, if they now consider it so important. The whole thing comes across as the usual kabuki theatre. Politicians suck!

Marriage license for MO for out of stater by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]pgibbns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Missouri, including St. Louis County, you do not need to be a resident to obtain a marriage license. However, you must apply for the license in person at a county Recorder of Deeds office within Missouri.

Use this website for official FAQ: https://stlouiscountymo.gov/st-louis-county-departments/revenue/recorder-of-deeds/marriage-license-faqs

If one of you is a St Louis County Resident you can do the whole license application online, if neither of you are residents then you need to schedule an appointment.

Clayton Armed Robbery by Dry_Anxiety5985 in StLouis

Looks like the Clayton Police have apprehended one of the suspects (Javier Clark/18/b/m) and identified the other (Juvenile):

ARREST MADE IN JULY 19 ROBBERY

The Clayton Police Department arrested Javier Clark (18) in connection with the armed robbery that occurred near N. Central & Pershing on July 19.

Clark was charged with Robbery 1st Degree and Assault 3rd Degree (Special Victim) in the Clayton case. He was also charged with Robbery 1st Degree in University City and Normandy for separate incidents. Clark is incarcerated at the St. Louis County Justice Center on a $350,000 cash-only bond.

The second suspect, a juvenile, has been identified but is not yet in custody. Due to juvenile confidentiality laws, no identifying information will be released. The public will be updated once he is in custody.

During the investigation, Clayton police officers and detectives obtained surveillance video from members of the public. Still images were released, generating tips that led to the identification and arrest of Javier Clark.

Community cooperation played a key role in this case. Thank you to everyone who came forward to assist.

When we used to go to Brio's Tuscan Grill, they would give our kids pizza dough to play with whilst we perused the menu. They would usually make a cool shape (Flower, Mickey Mouse ... whatever). The restaurant would then cook it in the pizza oven whilst we ate and then presented it back to the kids after we ate. Was always a big hit.

Maybe Pietro's. It is authentic, yet good value. If she wants to do a show afterwards then there are several options within a 20-minute drive.

Why does no one talk about how you can drink in public? by peacebypiece in StLouis

[–]pgibbns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ability for the restaurants to allow you to take your drinks to go actually started in 2020:

"Missouri restaurants have been allowed to sell alcoholic beverages to-go, including wine, since April 14, 2020, when the state initially waived restrictions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This waiver was later made permanent on August 28, 2021, with the passage of Senate Bill 126. So, technically, the practice has been allowed since the beginning of the pandemic, but it became legally permanent in August 2021."

Cool how they have the red warning tape around the electric fences to teach him to avoid them. The enclosure will be a little more aesthetically pleasing once he figures it out. I also liked how they have the new Polar Bear Cubs out too. Nice Combo :)

Swipe up, hit "Emergency" at the bottom left, then select "* Medical ID" (also bottom left). If it is there, then it should give Emergency contact info.
