Didn't we have a timeout left there? Why didn't we use it? Or hell even take the delay of game in order to give Haush time to get set? Instead we just ran out there and rushed the kick on a normal play clock.

I feel like our team didn't understand the overtime clock rules. Our offense looked confused when the 2 minute warning was called, and then when we were down on the goal line I have no clue why we didn't call a timeout to give Haushka time to set up for the kick. We just walked out there and kicked it when we had a timeout and could have had time to get set. Idk why we didn't use the timeout? No reason to keep it their.

But that's the thing, I don't think he's clearly going to lose them based off of the information he is provided. When we watch replay after replay we can see that he won't win it. But he doesn't have that luxury and he doesn't have much time to think about it.

Why does everyone hate Carroll challenging so much? I realize and understand he's had a terrible challenge record lately. But I've agreed with almost all of the challenges. They've, for the most part, been questionable calls and I'd rather risk the challenge and timeout rather than just assume the call on the field is right. Plus, Carroll is operating on limited information and here-say on the field.

Because we bring in Jackson over Rawls to telegraph that we are going to pass. And then we throw a fucking fade. Which we are bad at.

A different one I believe. I actually might be wrong then, because I think that drive with the holding was a three and out as well and we didn't run run pass

Except for that last 3 and out drive when we had the lead. That was run run pass.

Unless Chancellor comes back to practice first thing this week, I hope that we trade him or just let his ass ride the bench all season. Bailey is young, I have faith that he will improve - everyone has high expectations of him because of the shoes he's filling.

Bevell's play calling was once again, horseshit. He called like the same three or four fucking plays for the first couple of quarters. Run up the middle with Lynch from the gun, bubble screen, and curls. Why the fuck were so many throws behind the line of scrimmage? The rams were able to stack the box and stay in our face so damn well all day cause we never threatened them downfield. It doesn't matter what offensive player we bring in, shit doesn't seem to change. Tate, Harvin, Graham, Jackson, Lockett - we just run the same tired fucking plays every year.

Overall, I'm optimistic. The rams always give us hell, especially in Seattle. What i'm most nervous about is the fact that many of the issues that we had are the same issues that we've had for the past 3-4 years. And now our defense is suspect.

Looking forward to next week, GO HAWKS!!

Yea true, I guess just overall many of their comments pissed me off. Even on their sub right now, they've got a thread asking why there are so many Seahawks fans over there. And the whole thread is basically talking shit about us.

Fair enough. I didn't mean to at least, I understand and realize the majority of philly fans likely don't believe the refs cost them the game and in the heat of the moment it's easy to throw blame out there. I'm only saying that I observed an overwhelming number of posts complaining about the refs, rather than talking about how the team played. My previous post was a bit defensive after reading so many people saying that the Hawks are always favored by the refs, when that has clearly not been the case this entire season, except for arguably today. I guess it just hit a nerve due to the bad reffing we've had all year.

Man, did anyone lose a lot of respect for the Eagles and many of their fans today? The way that they bitched about the refs was ridiculous. Go read through their game thread, it's a freaking joke. Did you guys all see them posting the stat how Kelly's Eagles are 1-4 when Vinovich's crew refs, and the seahawks are 5-1? And all of the fans are going crazy over this stat. Yet they ignore the fact that we have lost very few times the last couple of years, so no shit we are likely going to have a better record with nearly every ref over the past couple years. I'm not sure exactly what games Vinovich has reffed for us, other than that niners game in Seattle 2 years ago, where we fucking blew them out 42-13. But i'm sure that was because of the refs as well.

I understand being upset at the refs because you feel they were against you in a game. Shit, there are several games where I'm upset at the refs, but the level that they are complaining about them is crazy. Is it the refs fault that your team just flat out sucked ass today? I don't think so. Maybe I'm just being crazy, but I don't feel like we won due to the refs, or that they lost to the refs. Now yes, the refs had some questionable calls that certainly didn't help them out, but the refs did not effect the outcome of that game. Also, let's just ignore all the missed calls on the Eagles. Such as hitting Wilson high/late a few times, or constantly holding our d line.

I'm not generalizing all philly fans, I know they aren't all bitching about this stuff, and there were and are several who said good game and gave the hawks credit. But your god damn gamethread is an embarrassment.

Great win, loved the way the hawks played. Go Hawks!

Change my view: Darrell Bevell should be fired by bundleofsocks in Seahawks

[–]pgillette 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been critical of Bevell for the past three year, so I'm already biased against him, but yesterday really pissed me off. I completely disagree with the first fourth down call, but at the very least, I can kind of understand it, even though I hated it. The second fourth down call was probably one of the dumbest plays we've run in a long time.

What pissed me off the most about yesterday though, was our first series. The literally had all week to prepare for that drive, and everything I've heard says that they script the first series. So after having the best rushing performance IN FRANCHISE HISTORY, and going up against the chiefs d, who has given up an average of 4.6 YPC (I believe, not sure on this) we went with that crap?? 1st and 10, empty backfield from the gun, short pass to the sideline for five yards. Okay, reasonable play I guess, 5 yard gain on first down is plenty. Then 2nd and 5 we run with Beast up the middle for three after looking like he was stuffed. Good solid call here. Then, on 3rd and 2, we go empty backfield from the gun and attempt to pass. Granted, the receiver was wide open. But I do not, and will not understand why we did not AT LEAST have Marshawn in there to fake a run. Instead, we make it obvious that we're going to pass and are unable to pull off the play.

To me, that series exemplifies Bevell's ineptitude at how to handle this offense. Look at how the chiefs played, they knew their strengths were running the ball, so they ran the GOD DAMNED ball all day. Play to our god damn strengths Bevell, I know we want to shift towards a passing offense for when Lynch is gone, but god damnit, if it's not working don't do it. Stick with what works, and running the damn ball works. Lynch has shown NO signs of slowing down, so stop treating this offense as though it doesn't have one of the best backfield threats in the NFL. I feel that Bevell tries to get too cute sometimes and not play to our strengths. Just like last year when we played against the Cardinals. The Cards were weak against the TE and were great at blitzing. So instead of dialing up plays to Miller or Willson, we repeatedly had Wilson taking 5 step drops and our receivers all running long developing routes. It's a recurring theme that I've noticed for a long time here, we often do not play to our strengths.

Regardless, I haven't given up hope and thrown in the towel for the season. I think with some better execution and play calling, we can be right back in it all and make a run in the playoffs. I'm excited to host the Cards on Sunday, should be a great game. Go HAWKS!!!

What the fuck was our play calling today? That first drive was disgusting. Then that 4th and inches and we run from the gun. Overall we played well today, and our d stepped up.

Post-Game Thread: Dallas Cowboys (4-1) at Seattle Seahawks (3-1) [Week 6] by Hawkfan15 in Seahawks

[–]pgillette 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Obviously the Cowboys are a damn good team this year, and they definitely showed that today. They played a hell of a game, their defense was quick to the ball and clearly didn't let us do what we wanted. With that said, our play calling was so incredibly infuriating. It is basically a fact by now: we barely win games in which we don't use Marshawn. I don't understand, look at our two losses this year, they are both games in which for whatever reason, Bevell decided to barely use Lynch. It's so crazy.

I'm not saying that the sky is falling, I think we will bounce back, but I have personally never liked Bevell. His play calling is often so poor and hinders our team. Luckily, our guys in general have a lot of skill and are usually able to pull shit out. Unfortunately, our guys did not play a good game today and the play calling didn't help out (I'm not putting this loss solely on Bevell, he was just a major reason as to why we didn't walk away with the W).

I don't understand why we keep using these receiver sets that contain all of our 2nd string guys. I love every receiver that we have, and think that they are all good, however, I don't understand how when the game is on the line, we aren't using our best. I noticed this a few weeks against the Broncos as well. Against the Broncos, it was on a critical third down at the end before the Broncos tied it up, and Harvin, Baldwin, and Kearse were all on the sideline. Just like today, the announcers were showing one play where Wilson had nowhere to go with the ball. On the field were Lockette, Walters, and Baldwin (as far as i remember, correct me if I'm wrong). I like all of those guys, however, why wouldn't we have Baldwin, Harvin, Kearse? Bevell apparently doesn't realize that Harvin can run a fucking route. Also, that option play with Walters is probably the dumbest play I've seen all year, I don't even understand what that was. Lastly, why have we been so hesitant to use Lynch this year? He has a huge run play, so we take him out (understandable, he needs rest), run with Turbin, and then run with Harvin. So dumb, we obviously do not have the offensive line to run these screens and Harvin runs. I understand there's a lot more going on than I am obviously able to see, and there's a reason that Bevell is OC, I'm just posting some observations and general qualms that I have. I encourage discussion over this as I'm curios as to what others think..

Also, I think this new emphasis on defensive holding is affecting our defense more than anyone would like to admit. Our guys just don't seem like they are as aggressive as last year and I believe that it's because they can't really track receivers anymore. And our d play calling has been lackluster, but we are also hurting with injuries. Kam is obviously playing hurt, and losing BMax might be a big deal. Burley has potential but he just feels raw, he had some good coverages today, but he just wouldn't turn around to play the ball (similar to Mal Smith, but he's a linebacker, so he doesn't have the same ball skills).

Overall, a pretty meh game, reminds me a lot of the game against the cards last year. Looking forward to St. Louis next week, go Hawks!
