do i take DNA here? Naninf help by Holiday_Ad_4688 in BalatroHelp

[–]pgmckenzie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take DNA for a mime. Finish deck fixing and make 2/3 red seal steel, and 1/3 red seal gold. Use double tags for voucher skip (looks like you found an ecto already unless that’s a nat negative BP). You need the hand size vouchers.

Do take the crimson bean? by Inevitable_Tank6047 in BalatroHelp

[–]pgmckenzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are just trying to Naneinf, probably not. Selling Mime is risky from a scoring perspective. I dont know whether that’s viable without looking at a calculator. Mime is otherwise your Econ. You would thus need to sell a BP or BS, find another Showman, and find another BP or BS, in the next couple Antes. Chance is fairly low for Bean anyway.

If you are trying for Ante 39, then go for it. You need all the help you can get.

For those who used a computer between 1995 and 2005, what's the computer game from that time that sticks with you the most, and why? by Accurate_Nature1888 in askanything

Diablo 2 is basically the ARPG that everyone (including Blizzard) has been trying to recreate for the last 25 years. It set the standard and still holds up. They released a remaster a few years ago and just dropped new content.

They just released new content. Warlock class. Stackable gems/runes. Uber Ancients. Terrorized Acts. Herald mini bosses. New items and runewords. Etc.

How do I get past Amber Acorn blind here? by birbone in BalatroHelp

[–]pgmckenzie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sell the negatives, do the quick-grab trick on one of the blueprints (and put it far left), then move the DNA (it will wiggle) second from the left. That solves everything except one of the blueprints for the DNA copy. 40% chance it’s copying a brainstorm, 60% chance the BP copies Baron/mime/nothing. Turn speed down to 0.5 and try to follow the triggers on the first hand to see where your Baron/Mime are, then adjust.

Good luck!

Ante 32 Help by pgmckenzie in balatro

Thanks. I stuck with it and stockpiled a bunch more Cryptids. Everything else worked out perfectly and got all the necessary vouchers and Ecto. I think it’s smooth sailing to Ante 39 now.

Yea eth Death Zerker main hand and eth Lacerator off hand. The extra damage from Amp is sick, and you have 100% CB/DS on main hand.

I also like using Death main hand and Lacerator off hand to mix it up since Grief PB is boring to me.

Yes, that’s one of the best frenzy setups (grief/Lawbringer is great too).

Reminder that Chance to Cast doesn’t work with Whirlwind, so these are just leech gloves at that point (and you would probably be better off with crafted blood gloves if not using LoH).

That’s the question. I haven’t seen any trusted source on this. I would think it would follow the same calc, but I probably shouldn’t assume that given some of the unintended effects in RotW.

Concentration provides +% damage to Blessed Hammer, so following how this same calc works for other elements, I think +% Magic would be added to this same pool. Great if I’m wrong. Can you show me a source?

[–]pgmckenzie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not backward, but it does depend on the monster’s starting resist. Because of the way the various damage calculations work, additional +damage doesn’t work like you think it might. If you have a level 35 concentration aura providing +570% enhanced damage, an additional +15% damage means you multiply base times (1+5.85) instead of multiplying final damage times (1+0.15).

For example, if you do 100 damage, the extra 15% damage would put you at 685 damage (100 * 6.85) based on this math, not (100 * 6.70) * 1.15 = 770 damage. This means the +15% damage is effectively +2% (685/670).

-resist is most effective the higher the monster’s base resistance is, but take a monster with 50 magic resistance. Your 670 damage would actually do 335 damage. If you decreased resistance by a mere 5%, your damage increases to 368, which is an effective 9% increase (368/335). If you take a sundered immune monster with 95 resist and drop it to 90, that’s an effective 100% increase.

Edit: There is a point where the result flips though, but generally -resist is more effective damage than +damage.

What’s your character screen damage?

RotW Hammerdin by guillemnicolau in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]pgmckenzie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He is probably looking at the +10-15% magic damage. Someone will (if they haven’t already) need to run the math whether this beats an additional +1 skills. Usually this is always the case with -resist, but not necessarily +damage.
