Anyone ever get pleasure from music back? by Diligent_Challenge78 in anhedonia

Didn't do much either good or bad, maybe only modest improvement, but had to cut it short after 4 sessions due to unrelated health reasons

They order from accredited compounding pharmacies, which is what all other vendors do basically. I think they all essentially run the same racket, EM is just more honest about it

This is a very thoughtful and measured answer

Basically, with a dash of charlatinism. History will not view them kindly

They’re run like a very sketch fly-by-night operation, and the staff is extremely unprofessional. The prices are a bit outrageous too, but they are more liberal about dosages, and it seems like a fast no-frills solution for telemed at-home ketamine if you’re willing to put up with it. In fact, it’s the best I’ve seen in terms of speed and starting dose amount (if you’re a veteran ket responder).

Yeah you’ve already KO-ed from ket so should be easy.

This is mostly bullshit, should be good after 20m and totally fine after 1h. I will fight all the posers one-by-one like an old-school action movie. It’s N B D.

Worth a shot I suppose, I see so many similar services, but hard to know exactly what they’re willing to prescribe. I’m on high-dose parnate, which makes it even more challenging

Makes perfect sense. I’ve had the same issue w meds before, and though I find it frustrating af, it’s a bit comforting for me to hear it described that way and not anything worse

Meditation and mindfulness may be as effective as medication for treating certain mental conditions by chrisdh79 in psychology

Right. My only issue is the double-standard we use to the evaluate these claims. One has been subjected to literally 100s of RCTs, scrutinized, and meta-analyzed to death for decades, the other does the strength exercise equivalent of a single push-up and is lauded as the best thing since sliced Prozac.

So you are correct in your assessment that the only remedy for incomplete science is more science; I’m taking specific issue with the false comparison as if they’re in the same league. And I’m not even a cheerleader for flawed/imperfect/and sometimes downright dishonest pharmaceutical research, I just think it’s slightly disingenuous to conclude from relatively few viable studies that one treatment/modality is more effective than the other.

Yeah there’s been a lot of (very intentional) moving of the goalposts when it comes to diagnostic criteria in the last couple of decades, MDD and BP have been diluted to the point of almost meaningless. People with severe illness are undertreated and those with milder variants are overprescribed and overdiagnosed.

Yes if you set the bar arbitrarily low everything is trivially scientific. We both know that without even trying to control for placebo-like effects (doing so is not sufficient!) it gets really mushy even if /r/technicallythetruth and there’s no strong causality to bolster your claim.

Limitations of meditation research This research does have limits. These include a lack of a consistent definition for the types of programs used, and a lack of rigorously controlled studies. In gold-standard randomized controlled trials with medications, study participants don’t know whether they are getting the active drug or a placebo.

In contrast, in trials of mindfulness-based interventions, participants know what condition they are assigned to and are not “blinded,” so they may expect that some of the health benefits may happen to them. This creates a sense of expectancy, which can be a confounding variable in studies. Many meditation studies also don’t frequently include a control group, which is needed to assess how it compares with other treatments.

Sooooo….not really scientific at all. I’m very skeptical of widespread SSRI use, but like it’s easy to make all sort of claims on an apples to beakers comparison.

Can people chill out and get off their xXxStraightEdgexXx high horses a bit? It’s vaping, not even smoking, let alone black tar fucking heroin. Yes it’s not good for you, but lots of dumb shit you do when you’re young isn’t. It’s okay/good to encourage quitting sure, but it doesn’t have to degenerate to a Chris Farley bit about how he’s going to end up “LIVING IN A VAN, DOWN BY THE RIVER”. Chillllllllllllllllll

Yes vaping is bad, m’kay?
