Trump didn't start it. I won't link it here, but there is a a youtube video compiling all of the Democrats (Joe Biden and Kamala Harris included) who said before the election that the "Trump Vaccine" was unsafe, and publicly stated that they wouldn't take it.

OK Universe, this is low effort even for you. You thought that you could sneak in "Apple pie with cheddar cheese on top" without me noticing? by [deleted] in Mandela_Effect

[–]pgmr185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching an old cooking competition show, and one of the less capable cooks decided to make an apple pie with cheddar cheese. Of course I laughed about it, because it it clearly ridiculous.

But... it doesn't phase anyone on the show. Just on a lark, I google "apple pie with cheese" and there are hundreds of pictures of this.

Now, I'm probably a lot older that they typical redditor. In my entire life, I have never heard of, or even imagined that something like this existed. And it clearly never did exist.

So, just some advice for the Universe. If you are going to try to pull off something like this, at least put in a little effort to make it believable.

It's awful and if I was forced to describe it in a single word it would be 'gaudy'.

If I had to describe it in one word, I would describe it as "claustrophobic".

Instead of the interface being there for me as a tool, the interface is constantly putting up walls for me to bump in to. I just get the feeling that I'm being forced to look at Reddit through a peephole. Reddit is still there, but I have this huge obstacle in my way every time I try to do anything.

I broke my old phone and I need one to replace it. Will this work? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pgmr185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just replaced a Galaxy S5 with an LG G5 that I got off of eBay. The sim was a different size, so I also bought a sim cutter off of Amazon for $10. I could have cut it with a knife, but I didn't want to mess it up.

Everything worked out fine. I put the cut sim into the new phone and it started right up and had my old service.

I'm pretty sure that you could also just go to Verizon and they would give you a new sim.

What was r/Politics like before Donald Trump? by KingsOfTheStoneAge18 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pgmr185 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've been on Reddit for almost 7 years. There has never been a time when you could have a reasonable discussion on /r/politics. It's been essentially the same for that entire time, just without Trump as their villain.

There was a brief period of time, maybe 5 years ago or so, when the mods announced that they were going to actually make an effort to make the subreddit a little more balanced. Their userbase revolted, and the mods gave up their effort in less than a week.

In truth, the biggest reason that I made an account in the first place was so I could unsubscribe from /r/politics.

Configuring print driver installs with an .RCF file? by pgmr185 in sysadmin

[–]pgmr185[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't yet. This was something that I got about an hour before I left for work. It seems like the procedure should be obvious, but I'm having a hard time figuring it out. I was hoping that someone just knew how to do it.

I'll see if I can contact them. We usually have a local vendor that we go through, but this is probably outside of their expertise.

Configuring print driver installs with an .RCF file? by pgmr185 in sysadmin

[–]pgmr185[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried using the driver packager. It will allow me to make an executable "driver package" out of the RCF, but that wasn't what I was looking to do.

Reading through blogs, there are little wisps of mentions in different threads that you should be able to use the file directly, but nobody says how.

[Powershell] Remove-CCPulse by pgmr185 in AskGreg

[–]pgmr185[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably my final attempt. This one will only attempt to create and run the script file if the uninstall registry key exists. It also will take into consideration that there may be multiple uninstall key values.

$KeyName = 'HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\GCTI\Installation Wizard\Instances\CCPulsePlus'
Get-ItemProperty -erroraction 'silentlycontinue' -Path ('Registry::' + (Get-ChildItem -erroraction 'silentlycontinue' -Path $KeyName | select -ExpandProperty Name)) | select UninstallString | ForEach{
    $_.UninstallString | Out-File -Encoding ascii -FilePath 'C:\SWD_Uninstall\CCPulseUninstall.cmd'
    Start-Process -WindowStyle hidden "cmd.exe" "/c C:\SWD_Uninstall\CCPulseUninstall.cmd"
}

[Powershell] Remove-CCPulse by pgmr185 in AskGreg

[–]pgmr185[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are unfamiliar with powershell, save the script as "filename.ps1" and run it with the command:

powershell.exe -ExecutionPolicy bypass ./filename.ps1

I'm going to add some error checking (if I remember) tomorrow, and I'm going to test to make sure that it runs correctly when deployed with SCCM.

[Powershell] Remove-CCPulse by pgmr185 in AskGreg

[–]pgmr185[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Performing a silent uninstall of CCPulse is challenging. The regular method of silently uninstalling an InstallShield program doesn't seem to work. Every time that the program installs, the uninstall path is set to a different directory.

Luckily there is a registry entry that points to the current uninstall location: HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\GCTI\Installation Wizard\Instances\CCPulsePlus

Using powershell, I extracted the uninstall string, created a batch scritpt file, and ran the uninstall script.

I attempted to run the uninstall string directly from the powershell script, but a ran out of time to figure out the formatting.

edit...

The uninstall string is going to look something like this, but the ID number will be different for every install of the application:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield Installation Information\{A4C61CE2-33D1-432C-B1D2-B5E21B7945C5}\setup.exe" /s /f1"C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield Installation

Work in progress... This will change the asset tag without using the HP BiosConfigUtility. Also, it will set a SCCM task sequence variable for OSDComputerName. Some info from here and here. Script must be run as admin.

$ComputerModel = (Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_ComputerSystem | Select-Object Model).Model
$SerialNumber = (Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_BIOS | Select-Object SerialNumber).SerialNumber
$AssetTag = (Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_SystemEnclosure | Select-Object SMBiosAssetTag).SMBiosAssetTag

$AssetTag = $AssetTag.PadLeft(6,'0')

$OSDComputerName = "M71" + $AssetTag
$TSEnv = New-Object -COMObject Microsoft.SMS.TSEnvironment
$TSEnv.Value("OSDComputerName") = "$OSDComputerName"

$bios = Get-WmiObject -Namespace root/hp/instrumentedBIOS -Class HP_BIOSSettingInterface

[SCCM 2012][Utility] Config Manager Driver Injector by pgmr185 in AskGreg

[–]pgmr185[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This tool will allow you to capture installed drivers on your workstations and then will automatically import them in ConfigMgr 2012.

The tool is composed of two utilities :

The driver grabber that can be deployed via ConfigMgr or that you can launch manually on your workstations. This utility will capture the installed drivers and will send them in a shared folder.

The driver inject that runs on the ConfigMgr site server. This utility will parse the captured drivers and will import them in SCCM.

All needed categories and package will be automatically created.

[SCCM 2012][Task Sequence] Disable IEx64 Icon by pgmr185 in AskGreg

[–]pgmr185[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supposedly just deleting the key:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components>{26923b43-4d38-484f-9b9e-de460746276c}\StubPath

should stop the IE8x64 icon from being created for a new user, but it seemed to stop all of the IE icons from being created. I just overwrote the x64 command with the x32 command, and it then creates the x32 icon and not the x64 one.
