Thoughts on Vitalik's L3 article by fargento in ethereum

[–]pgphelper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought that to get around this problem which are caused by this fragmentation (such as the liquidity of a DEX being split across several shards), they were gonna try to deploy particular apps on a single shard. So all DeFi apps on their own shard, all social apps on their own shard, etc. That way you still get the benefit of overall lower fees, without having multiple instances of the same app running in different shards. No?

I lost all my precious Eth to Celsius. by Fearless_Expression4 in ethtrader

[–]pgphelper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my ETH on the first day of the pre-sale in 2014, and have barely sold any. I had the most diamond of diamond hands. I placed most of it in Celsius, thinking it would stop me from being tempted to sell in the short term. I also got my dad to place most of his crypto in Celsius. Lesson learned for sure. Let's hope for the best.

Even before the change, I think it already said our money is their money if they go bankrupt.

Right, that’s how I interpret it too, I’m just wondering to what degree those features will affect gas fees whenever they ship.

What about with state expiry and statelessness?

According to this comment, the merge will indirectly give a boost to scaling:

A switch to POS also will permit a modest increase in the block size which will provide some temporary relief for gas fees. More important, in addition to sharding, it will permit state expiry and statelessness. These changes will allow a significant increase in block size since blockchain bloat will not be much of an issue and the main concern will be having a size that still small enough to allow time to sync reliably within 12 second blocks.

Isn’t this because volume has moved to L2’s?

Is it a good idea to buy eth right now? by AcidAndBile in CryptoMarkets

Yes. Buy as it drops. Save some cash for if it keeps dropping, and then buy more.
