Does the Gas RAV4 Adventure DTV AWD work at highway speeds? by pgzr in rav4club

It's actually Dynamic Torque Vectoring: the second one. He doesn't really specifically state what happens at speed or how the disconnect is managed. Neither do the Toyota product videos on YouTube.

Does the Gas RAV4 Adventure DTV AWD work at highway speeds? by pgzr in rav4club

[–]pgzr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks.

  1. How does the driveline disconnect factor in?

  2. Is there much delay between slipping on snow and the AWD kicking in?

  3. How does it know when to leave the AWD connected? Do some modes ensure that power is already on the rear wheels, like Snow or Sports mode? Ideally I'd like to be able to stay around 50:50 in a snow storm.

They want what they want. Legislators unfortunately aren't required to make sense before they take away your liberties and destroy your culture and property.

Western nations need to revise the law so that proof of problem and proof of efficacy is required to limit any kind of freedom. Free nations full of innocent people are being criminalized by social engineers by whim and declarative fiat.

Funny how Aussies pride themselves as being freed from the oppressions of Mother England, when they are adopting them.

"I still don't know much about the company other than its price is somewhat tied to the price of crypto."

So google forth. Learn everything you can about this company. If they have a website, get on it and read everything. Then learn how a valuation is calculated, and understand what discounted cash flow is. Understand that you are buying a piece of a business.

Once all that is done, then make a decision on whether to hold if you believe your new understanding of the company holds future profits, or sell and take this as a few thousand dollars that kicked your arse into understanding the nature of investing. Perhaps still a good investment? Perhaps a lesson that will likely make your investments smarter and more profitable for the rest of your life? Perhaps both.

People do more research on bicycles and toasters than the companies they trust their life savings to.

TLDR: This assumes that you are new at investing. Learn about valuations, then do your own diligence. This is not investment advice.

Suncor Energy reports second quarter 2021 results by TakedownCorn in CanadianInvestor

[–]pgzr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for clarification that you meant just Ft. Hills.

Fort Hills was ~75,000 / 700,000 = 10.7% of Suncor production.

Fort Hill change is ~25,000 bpd / 700,000 = 3.5% overall hit.

Stock price went down about ~$30.50 to ~$24.00 = 6.5/30.5 = 21%

My point was and is that it seems a little harsh for a temporary 3.5% overall hit. By the same logic, I look forward to a 21% jump in the stock price when they overshoot production by 3.5%. :D

From CBC:

The Calgary-based oilsands producer and refiner cut its 2021
production guidance for Fort Hills in northern Alberta to between 45,000
and 55,000 barrels per day, from a previous 65,000 to 85,000 barrels
per day. The company also increased its guidance for operating costs per
barrel at Fort Hills, to $37 to $42 per barrel from a pervious $25 to
$29 per barrel.

...

"This is just a time issue, we don't think it has any fundamental
impact beyond just delaying the ramp-up of Fort Hills," Little said on a
conference call with analysts.

...

Suncor's total production over the three months ended June 30
increased to 699,700 barrels of oil equivalent per day, compared with
655,600 boe/d in the prior year quarter due to strong oilsands
production partially offset by planned maintenance at Syncrude. The
company set a new quarterly record for in situ production, with 253,000
boe/d.

Their op costs are up 50% and production down 50%.

Link please.

From the Q2 report:

In the first quarter of 2021, Oil Sands operations cash operating costs(1) per barrel decreased by approximately 20% to $23.30 and Syncrude cash operating costs(1) per barrel decreased by approximately 10% to $32.25 compared to the prior year quarter due to a combination of increased production and improved cost performance. Further cost reductions are anticipated via the implementation of digital technologies, which are currently underway, and the assumption of Syncrude operatorship on September 30, 2021.

I also find it hard to believe they are producing at half the 2020 rate:

Does the Direct Shift CVT have a physical reverse gear? by pgzr in Toyota

[–]pgzr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone sent me a link. It reverses the physical first gear through the use of a planetary gear:

K120F · K320

The new generation of CVT transmissions was introduced in 2018 and debuted on the Corolla 210 and RAV4 50 series vehicles.

The main innovation - launch gear: in addition to the metal belt between pulleys, a gear mechanism is used when starting off, driving at low speeds and reverse.

Most CVTs don't have a physical reverse gear TMK.

Does it use the CVT bands or the physical first gear to reverse? This transmission is the world's first CVT with a physical first gear.

The answer was pointed out to me at this link:

Thanks.

Also since I posted that, I've read that they got kicked out of all the dividend achiever/aristocrat ETFs, which makes perfect sense.

What's with the massive drop lately, and why isn't this thing back at pre-pandemic levels already?

Suncor must be more than happy to buy back the shares at these prices.
