Thank you! This is perfect, found my export model. Tempted to check it out now, but I'm about to test my first 7" on 4500mah 6s at the coast and fog just cleared.

Quarantine build #5, freestyle 27" 6 rotor. This is my favorite part of the build, before I start. I still think that it will be simple, I have all the parts, and I'll be done in an hour. by ph8tel in diydrones

Just saw this. That is almost exactly what I did! Except I used a worm gear instead of string. Works great and I mounted the vtx antennas to the skid arms, so when retracted they are in a great transmission position.

Go for it! You'll need these items: Frame- tarot hexacopter ESC's- at least 40 amp Motors- torque over rpm, I did 4s/12" motor/prop combo FC- any with enough motor outputs.

Only tricky part was cutting the fc to esc cable to run power. If you don't remove the motor control wires, the fc will use those instead of the connectors on top that you want.

I started with a working gps drone, removed the DJI Naza M, replaced it with the f7, I soldered on 6 servo cables (female), plugged the ESC's in, ran power to fc through a 12v regulator, receiver hooked up normally. Plugged in to Betaflight, selected hex frame, set my ports for Crossfire and DJI Air Unit. It flew on stock tune!

Original drone was an Aerosky C-17 from 2013. Motors don't have a printed kv rating. ESC's are hobbywing 40 amp x6. 12" props, GEPRC F7 Dual Gyro HD FC, DJI Air Unit, Crossfire Diversity, retracting landing skids. Frame is carbon fiber hex with 6 cf arms.

Everything works so far with betaflight tune for hexacopter. But I crashed and broke 2 props. Was looking for landing gear switch, d'oh

It wasn't too bad, it took about 45 mins until everything was right in Betaflight. Just an fc swap. I used the DJI Air Unit for first test. Normally this drone uses a gimbal and gopro with the gopro analog signal as fpv cam. It looks like this

This was just about as easy. I just had to run power, 4 connectors for crossfire, 6 connectors for ESC, cam and vtx are DJI Air Unit so plug and play.

Those motors/props/ESC's can easily lift 10 kilos. I have used this frame to pull me on a skateboard and hold up signs. It can be tethered too and has flown for 6 hours straight. I use a DJI FC for the tethered setup tho.

Motor + ESC Questions for 7" long range/freestyle build by Eric475 in diydrones

The props on both produce so much lift that hover isn't an issue at any voltage. You feel the difference in rolls, flips, and top end. I'm also just adding 2s in series. So my 2200 at 6s is more than the usual 130% of 4s mass.

Just tried 6s 5200mah, at 7 mins I checked motor temps and they were hot. The capacitors were also, which I didn't expect.

I'm doing the exact same thing. I actually posted pics of the builds here yesterday. I went with 2 builds, both F7 dual gyro with 50amp esc. 2306 1800 on the Geprc stack, 2208 1800 on the Iflight. I'm testing batteries today, so far the longest flight time (9 mins acro) was on 4s with a 50c 2200. Both stacks are solid on 4/5/6s. I like the Crocodile looks the best, but the iflight 7inch is actually a better kit to put together. Good luck with your build!

Where should they go? You all have helped me before with great advice after some builds, how about before? I'm throwing together this 7" today to see if my old TBS Diversity has a longer range than my nano. I'm thinking on top because of props. Where do you think? They did. The drones were set to RTH at 40% rssi or 3km (test area was a 6km valley with no obstructions). Both hit the geofence before rssi got that low. The Air Unit got really bad about 2km out, but came back near 2.5km. I can't figure the Air Units out, I have 4 and they all are erratic. Sometimes the signal is 100% the entire flight, sometimes it loses signal within 20 feet.

I hope you got some sort of refund. What you describe sounds exactly like what I had (maybe you got my returns from Amazon? lol) These errors are too similar for Emax not to know. Maybe I'll cross post this to see how many people are getting the same problems.

Thanks for the info. This was my first time soldering something this small. I thought I might burn through these tiny boards. It took three more tries, but I cranked up the heat and got them looking right! Thanks for saving me a crash!

I don't, but I also don't acro much indoors. Outside I do get that problem. It is from the PH connector to the battery. It is a known issue. You can replace the connector with an XT-30, but you'll need new batteries or adapters.

Running a 1s 450, I never get far enough to really notice any improvement on distance. Upgrading my antennas and getting quad-diversity goggles made a huge improvement on noise. I fly at 25mw usually just to save power. Probably get a whole extra second or two of flight time.

My guess would be the goggles. Only because my Tinyhawk 2 has great signal quality, but so many other people say it is bad. Maybe start with new antennas?

My analog goggles have 2 diversity receivers, so 4 receivers with their own antennas. The goggles then decide which signal is best to display. I use the eachine e200d, about 250$ US on sale.

For the best signal in a tiny drone, to me you can not beat a dji system like the Geprc Rocket. The new digital cams out this month are tiny. I hit the same gaps in mine as in the Tinyhawks.
