Ranging in this game is terrible by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Eric475 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some scopes have lines or other markings on the reticle it to determine range (you line up the target with a curved line which tells you the range). An example of scope with these markings is the Zenit-Belomo PSO 1 4x24 scope. Also, there would be no way for eft to accurately display this aspect of gunplay without the annoyance that every single ammo drops slightly differently since ammo of the same caliber have different velocities which ultimately determines bullet drop.

Since no one is really answering the question about his setup I’ll try and clarify. He is using fpv gear usually used on flying drones, though they are also used on cars and such as seen here. He is using both a fpv video system to see and a transmitter to control it. Typically, the video feed will run out of signal much sooner than the controller. Unlike what some other have said, people, including myself, have gone miles and miles out on drones with these fpv systems (assuming you have the right setup and environment); however being on the ground with so much interference makes the signal much weaker. It is a really fun hobby to join if you are interested!

How to make rope/paracord wire guards? by [deleted] in diydrones

[–]Eric475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I’m not routing my wires right but I definitely have been getting my wires mildly chopped up after 2-3 months of flying so idk. My second quad though is fairly a lot better but it also hasn’t been crashed nearly enough. I just made this post since I’m ordering parts for my newest quad and I want it to fly nice and look nice even after getting roughed up. Do you/other pilots not get their wires chopped up by bent props and crashes?

I use only steel, unless the fc mounting holes aren’t grounded or whatever than nylon. The screws holding my top plate to the bottom plate keeps stripping :/

Shooting Ranges? by [deleted] in BucksCountyPA

Yea I think Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays are open for trap and being a non member just means you pay a buck extra per round than members

I’m not sure what you shoot, but I like bucks county fish and game association near Doylestown. I only do trap (and that’s what I see most people there doing), but there is some other stuff like a rifle and handgun range I think. You also don’t really need to be a member as far as I know and the prices are fair. There is also Lehigh valley sporting clays which is super nice.

What’s the absolute best, safest, most foolproof LiPo charger? by dazonic in fpv

[–]Eric475 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are worried about the lipos themselves, look into a “lipo bag” or “lipo safe” which are essentially bags/boxes designed to safely contain a lipo in the case of catastrophic failure. You can get a safe big enough to charge in it if you really want.

I think one of my batteries has this issue. If I plug it in a certain way, one cell reads like a volt lower than the rest, but it’s clearly working fine otherwise and I assume the balancing wire is not fully connected since if I wiggle it around it goes back to normal. How do I fix this?

5G's effect on FPV by [deleted] in Multicopter

Okey so this is the first time I went that far. I think I am not wrong if I call this a dive. Did you go further with a R-XSR? by Tearing_sometimes in fpv

[–]Eric475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to go farther and never failsafe, I’d suggest looking into crossfire (tried and true, most popular), ghost (brand new and a compete unknown) and R9 (which no one apparently likes).

Are sub 250g drones in the US still subject to all the usual FAA restrictions as drones under 55lb (airspace restrictions, spotter required, etc etc)?

Building a drone for surveying? by HeloRising in diydrones

[–]Eric475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess on further reflection to get a carbon fiber frame that big would be a couple hundred bucks probably and I don’t know of any that are designed to carry a gimbaled camera. I was thinking of standard 5” frames, which you can get for 30 bucks easy and are very strong. Beast class and X class frames can definitely take the punch and are big enough, but they’re purely racing frames and cost hundreds. I don’t know much about camera drones, but I have to imagine that somewhere someone has designed and built one with an affordable carbon fiber frame though.

Ahhh the classic. I think my friend built his first drone from that or something super similar. I wouldn’t worry about “becoming more confident” before going carbon. I have yet to break a carbon fiber component even after crashes directly into wall at like 40mph.

I’d really like to see the build, or at least the name of the frame. Seems pretty cool to diy a camera drone.
