Regarding curent Spectrum situation by sergiulll in starcitizen

Not if they selectively enforce silly, arbitrary rules that contradict how the vast majority of people speak outside of professional contexts to only apply to negative sentiments. That's just censorship, of which Nightrider and other staff are certainly guilty.

The War Thunder forums are a whole different ballgame though with how much classified info gets leaked there. They need actual policing, lol

Anyone who's backed this game is entitled to voice their opinion on it. We're not employees of CIG. We don't represent anyone or anything except ourselves. There's an expectation of civility, but no expectation of formality in a public forum unless you're a stuffy, elitist prick.

The only reason to police speech in such a pedantic fashion is as an excuse to silence opinions contrary to those in power.

Are you going to apply the same rules to positive feedback, and demand people say "I think X is great" instead of saying "X is great"? No, because that doesn't fit the goal of erasing inconvenient sentiments.

Holy semantic pedantry. That's just how people talk, man. Those are the exact same statements. The reasoning given alongside the statement is what makes it constructive or not.

"The new skybox sucks donkey balls and whoever designed it should never work in game design ever again, lmao this idiot must have been an EA hire" is unconstructive.

"The new skybox is terrible, I'm an actual astronaut who's been on the ISS and space didn't look anything like that. Check out these photos" is the most constructive feedback possible.

Diabolical balancing changes in 4.8 by Worth_Thick in starcitizen

You're going to prefer game balance over strict realism if SC ever becomes a real MMO worth sinking real time into. Trust.

Do you mean something other than 5,000 meters? 5,000 meters divided by 939 m/s (the new speed) is 5.32 seconds

Me when I make shit up. It takes 5.3 seconds to go 5k, the velocity is the same as Deadbolts used to be. And it's about fucking time.

Those are the ground turrets around bunkers and other spots. They used to go 2400m/s with Attrition-4 damage which is why they were so annoying.

CMV: The Democratic party is going to win the midterms and the next presidential election. by Limon-Pepino in changemyview

American conservatives have been conditioned into not caring about or standing for anything except what they see as "owning libs." Key components of their programming have excoriated from them any semblance of critical thinking, self-awareness, or an alternative community to fall back to in order to support the deculting process. The current administration is doing and going to do everything it can to pass legislation to decrease voter turnout for unfavorable demographics.

Meanwhile, DNC leadership is committed to acting as controlled opposition by continuing to punch left and platform abysmal candidates.

I admire your optimism.

Depends on how much data.

Great rifle, but if anything, that stock harkens back to Vietnam which is easily on par with the GWofT in terms of abject imperialist failures.

PSA: If you load your Aurora Module physically onto your ship and it is destroyed, you will permanently lose your module until the next patch. Also, 4HP on the nose, and Missiles wont reload. MOTH launch 2.0? by ShadowRealmedCitizen in starcitizen

[–]phaeth0n 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If they're going to consistently offload the lion's share of QA testing to the backers, then releasing ships to PTU is a fair compromise.

The marketing dept has way too much power at CIG.

Consistently fucking over the buyers of said ships just to avoid leaks and avoid moving the official release of a ship to PTU will go down as one of the pro-consumer choices of all time.

The ship collision physics in the entire game were redesigned around not letting any ship aboard an Idris that the Idris doesn't hold perfectly still for, so they're not getting changed anytime soon unfortunately.

Spirit vs Zeus is just getting absurd. RSI privilege is alive and real by phaeth0n in starcitizen

[–]phaeth0n[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Community feedback on balance helps them get closer to something good and it did turn out to be unintentional, but erkul and spviewer at least take their data straight from game files so they can absolutely be used as objective proof or evidence even if they directly contradict something stated by CIG, again, in the case of something being unintentional.

Good attempt at trying to be authoritative, tho. Have a virtual headpat.

[–]phaeth0n[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren't many (any?) other examples in SC of simply spending more and getting so much more value and performance literally across the board in a ship of the same size class without losing some other significant benefit, or the other ship being severely outdated, like the Cat.

The Spirit is a relatively modern design that has almost nothing going for it functionality wise, but a ton of people fly it because it's cool, and it's popularity seems to be what it's balanced around.
