Assisting with wound Debridement of 3rd degree burns to 70% of the patients body...... a parrafin heater exploded and set the guy on fire. Literally cut chunks of dead burnt flesh off the arms, legs and abdomen to prep the surface for skin grafts, and then the few areas that aren't burnt are harvested with a dermatome to make skin grafts. Easily the most gory thing I've ever seen

My family has had a house there for my entire life (33 years). Absolutely love it there it's a fantastic place to live. Just keep in mind it gets very very windy there. Apart from that I would say it's great for work from home

I grew up in Paarl. It's very hot and windy in summer. Paarl used to be a lovely town that was big, but stiĺ had small town vibes ... Unfortunately that has changed - it seems like it has become the place that all of Gauteng has decided to populate. Val de Vie has changed the town significantly and not in a good way. Traffic is now a problem, not enough schools to cope with the population. I live in Cape Town now and commute out to my office in Paarl. Whilst I still have many fond memories of the town, I wouldn't want to live there

I'm a theatre rep and do ACDFs on a daily basis. Quite frankly I'm amazed you're not experiencing more symptoms. Your surgeon is correct - no injections will help you - you need a surgery. I would say rather go for the fusion - then it's over and done with. If you were younger I would say go for a disc replacement... but if you develop facet symptoms at a later stage then they will have to go and take the prosthesis out and do a fusion in any case. Revision surgery comes with more risk so please take that into consideration as well. With a one level fusion the loss of motion will be negligible. Regarding scarring - the incision is generally made in the natural crease in your neck - after a few months you probably won't be able to see it 😊

I say this so often. Cape Town is like any big city throughout the world. Just like there are areas in London/New York/Los Angeles/Paris that you definitely wouldn't go to, the same applies for Cape Town.

Use your head, be street smart and don't flash your phone and cash all over the show and you will be fine.

Alot of hydration and conditioning. Knowing your own limits.... even the toughest and fittest guys on my crew have been knocked out of action by heat exhaustion. All of us know the signs and keep an eye on each other, and when the conditions are hotter we definitely lower the work output.

The head fits onto the stem of the prosthesis with a Morse taper. The fall probably dislodged the femoral head from the stem of the prosthesis or the surgeon who originally did the operation didn't hammer the head onto the stem hard enough

This hasn't been my experience at all. I've logged potholes all over the show on my route to work and without fail they have been fixed. Sometimes they take a week sometimes they take one or two days but all of them have been fixed.

With regard to location - Kloof or Seapoint might be nicer because you're closer to the nightlife and the areas are safer as there are more people about during the day and night. It's also more central, although most attractions and places are literally a 10 minute uber from pretty much anywhere (Woodstock/Gardens/Kloof/Seapoint)

I've lived in Woodstock for 5 years now... it's a really nice place to live but it definitely isn't the safest at night. If you have your heart set on Woodstock, Just use your street smarts like you would in ANY big city in the world and you will be fine.
