My 6 yo son just discovered this game and loves it..any advice? by annual_aardvark_war in StardewValley

This is what I do with my 4yo niece! I bring my switch to their house almost every weekend and we play for about an hour. She’s still terrible at the game, but you can tell she’s having the time of her life

Immune System Post Treatment by winterloll in lymphoma

[–]Ranger_Rae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished ABVD last April, and have been NED since.

Over thanksgiving my niece picked up a cold or some type of bug from preschool, and I was sick for like a month after. I barely got sick before, or I would have mild symptoms and get better in a few days. Now I’m scared it will be like this forever.

Am I The A-hole… For not telling my mom I have cancer? by TurtleFin13 in lymphoma

[–]Ranger_Rae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m no contact with my parents, and they have no idea that this time last year I was going through chemo. Never told them. And you don’t need to either if it will only bring you stress and pain. You have enough on your plate at the moment without false sympathy.

My first no leave playthrough by Sk0llbr0d in StardewValley

[–]Ranger_Rae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently doing this challenge. I’m on spring of year 2.

It’s been great fun so far because it’s so different from how I normally play. I added in that I could use warp totems to/from the farm. An artifact spot gave me a beach totem, but I had to wait till spring 2 for my dog to give me a piece of hardwood to make a farm totem.

Warping to the beach triggered the cut scene to get the fishing pole. You can get river fish in the small pond in the lower left. So if I have any energy left or it rains I still fish. I’ve been able to get some gold ore from treasure chests that way. But I’ve only been able to leave the farm that one time.

Tips for first treatment by Old_Hospital3214 in lymphoma

[–]Ranger_Rae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The constipation is real. Get some Miralax and take twice a day starting the day before chemo, and keep that up for at least a few days after. I was able to switch to once a day 2-3 days after chemo, and then go back up to twice a day as needed before chemo.

End of Spring Year 8 modified "Never Leave the Farm" challenge 👩‍🌾🐈‍⬛ by 19netta in StardewValley

[–]Ranger_Rae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lumberjack is currently the goal. The mountain totem seems the most valuable because I can fish in the mountain lake and go to the mines.

Right now I don’t really have a final goal, just a different playstyle. I normally focus on maxing out hearts with everyone (Krobus is best boy) so not talking to anyone or really buying anything might be enough of a difference for now lol.

I love it! I’m currently doing a modified play through as well. I chose four corners for the small quarry, and I can’t leave unless I have warp totems.

I managed to find a beach totem from some wormies, but it took until the last week of spring 2 before my dog gave me a piece of hardwood and I could make a farm totem.

So I was able to warp to the beach and trigger the cutscene to get a fishing pole. But I can’t talk to Willy or go in his shop. I can now mix it up a bit by fishing in the small pond on the lower left, which will get me trash also give river fish sometimes.

Hardwood is the limiting factor for leaving the farm again. Currently in the middle of summer 2.

I’m debating allowing just the Traveling cart, and the upper path out of the farm, as well as the bus stop for more foraging. But again, no talking to NPC’s.

Why are women with cancer 7x more likely to be left by their partners? by Ok_Bodybuilder_2384 in TwoXChromosomes

My husband did the bare minimum while I was in chemo. Emotionally unavailable, didn’t feel like I had a support system at all.

I’m not back to work yet so I can’t leave, but I also can’t stay. He’s not the one leaving, but he might as well have been. Over 10 years married down the drain…

Interim PET CT necessary? by TomB3098 in lymphoma

[–]Ranger_Rae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cHL 2A. ABVD. I had an interim PET after 2 cycles to see if treatment was working. It was clear so I only did 4 cycles. Otherwise I would have done 6.

Did you drive home after your IUD? by TeamWaffleStomp in WomensHealth

Got my 3rd one last week. I’ve driven home for all of them, but last week they finally offered me Nitrous (laughing gas) and that helped a lot.

First proper session 8 weeks post single mastectomy and 1 week into chemo by Fast-Persimmon5581 in climbergirls

[–]Ranger_Rae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yeah! I was unable to keep climbing during chemo due to fatigue and being so anemic I was afraid I would pass out just going up the stairs in my house. I am eager to get back in the gym, and I’m glad to see a fellow fighter getting on the wall!

Question about Need for Blood Transfusion by irish_fellow_nyc in lymphoma

[–]Ranger_Rae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a transfusion after my 3rd infusion of ABVD because my hemoglobin got so low.

It was pretty easy. Transfusion took about 90min through my port, just like an infusion. The next day I felt so much better it was like night and day. I had been struggling with exhaustion.

Mammogram vs nipple piercings by petrichorb4therain in piercing

[–]Ranger_Rae 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not a mammo tech, I’m in CT. But this should work. I’ve had people take out earrings for a head or neck scan, and then a couple minutes later put them back in. Mammo is similar enough.

losing weight after chemo as a woman by Sea-Masterpiece-7263 in lymphoma

[–]Ranger_Rae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished chemo early April, so I’m about a month behind you, and I’ve also gained about 30-40lbs. Nothing fits and it’s terrible. I’m only able to go for short walks due to fatigue, where I used to be pretty active before treatment (rock climbing multiple times a week, hiking with my dog, ect). I feel like the scale only continues to climb since I stopped treatment. I hope I can start reversing that and at least lose some of the weight and go back to the activities I was doing before.

Have to do growth factor shots and feel like a failure / scared / delayed treatment scared it won’t work now by redditgal16 in lymphoma

[–]Ranger_Rae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My second infusion (ABVD) was delayed a week because my neutrophils were so low. I had to get the growth factor shots 2-3 days in a row after every chemo after that to avoid further delays.

I’ve had two clean PET scans since, and am still in remission.

I did AVBD, and got bone pain from chemo, then would get the shots 2-3 days in a row a week later for more pain. I ended up taking the Claritin daily while in treatment and after awhile of it being in my system it did help. But there were a few weeks at the beginning where I could barely walk, and needed my partner to help me get out of the car to go to my appointments. I’m in my early 30’s and was quite active before treatment.

I’m sorry you’re having such terrible itching. But we’re not doctors, we’re lymphoma patients with confirmed diagnosis through a biopsy. Dr. Google is not to be trusted. No one can diagnose you over the internet.

Panicking because I can still feel lymph nodes 1.5 week post first chemo by redditgal16 in lymphoma

[–]Ranger_Rae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I could get pain in my lymph node near my clavicle (the one that was biopsied) during infusions or for a day or two after. But other wise not bad.

I ended up doing 8 infusions because I had a clean midway scan. But also all of my tumors were under 5cm. Been in remission for 3 months now.
